Thespian Hopolites

I noticed in Greece there are mercenary Thesipian hopolites, and I found them very useful in many ways, even rivalling the spartans, also in custom battles Greece has them on thier roster, but they have "Mercenary" in thier name, since that usually means you cant recruit them is there any way I can get some sort of file with QI so I dont have to change the files myself (I am computer illiterate) Or am I wrong and can I recruit them with a higher barracks?

There are located ALL over greece in a good number. So you shouldnt need to recruit them.

Recruited units are much cheaper than mercenaries. I noticed spartan upkeep is 400 and Thesipian hopolites have 800 upkeep, although Spartans are better a lot than Thesipian hopolites. So this question was more related, I think, to the money side than to the numder of this units.

True but I like the way they look lol, and if I could recruit them they probably would become the backbone of my army, Ill just try editing the files...

Good luck then! Still, as LT said, you should be happy enuf with their merc recruitment and try using spartans as a backbone

Playing as any faction other than Rome is TOO EASY there are too many bonuses for other factions. A 5 year old child to conquer the world in SPQR by playing any faction but Rome. lol Rome is the challenge as the Mod was made to give Rome the challenging game. So edit away and enjoy, I suggest you remove alot of bonuses or Play on VH/VH if playing other factions.

Not for Other factions, Problem is Otehr factions get TONS of bonuses to make the AI more agressive and support the many armies you see in SPQR. without that Romans would be a cake walk, but because of those changes its a challenge to the Roman player. If you are playing with other factions You need to play on Higher difficulty than M/M as its unfair and its like playing on SUPER EASY mode. lol No wonder people conquer the world with Greece, look at the Money and amount of men, then under HUMAN control. sheesh

I started a new game as Greece playing H/VH with my new, cool looking thespian hopolites, to compinsate as a House Rule I now only keep 3 Spartan Hopolites in a stack, and try to only use them for deffence.

Means in 10 stacks you have total of 30 spartans unit?

well yeah....not like all 10 stacks will be right next to each other though....

i never even bothered SPQR is made for Roma, not anything else!!

you can even recruit spartans themselves ....

poew i started playing version 4 of spqr i think even never tryed an other faction to play lol i loved the greeks in rtw but now i am only playing romamn faction lol even when i started playing m2tw for some time i came back for roma
