    Default relegion and relations

hey guys. i read somewhere that if you have a different religion then other factions then the relations with them get worse.

and i was wondering is that because of the church you build or because the religion that is edited in sm_factions.

i wanted to know because i made Byzantium's main religion pagan. but they are still able to build a orthodox and also a catholic and pagan church.

and when i builded a catholic cathedral relations with the pope still went up.
and when i destroy it i got worse.

so does anyone knows if relations are effected by church or religion in general?

    thanks

building lvl 3 churches or higher will earn u one point each time u build em and I guess that destroying a church will make it go down by one and yeah u lose some rep towards factions with different religions over time.

i know my main religion is pagan and with pagan churches the pope called a crusade at me.

so even if i would destroy the pagan churches and build catholic instead
it can change the way factions think about me?

The pope's main crusade target is Jerusalem, if that settlement is not in catholic hands at least ONCE from a crusade it is quite hard to convince him to turn his eye to another crusade target.

AI factions will give a small relations boost to other factions of the same religion. But you don't get a penalty for having a different religion, except for the papal states. They are programmed to dislike other religions. Although you can increase papal standing through building churches and get it decreased from destroying them. Training priests however won't increase your faction's rating with the pope as your religion is set as pagan in descr_sm_factions.txt.
I'm fairly certain that building a huge cathedral will only increase pagan religion in a region if you are a pagan faction. But you are in a good position to verify this.
