You need this tool, the instructions look complex but it's pretty simple to use.

I have managed to run it in the game and all is great it's just that
I DONT KNOW HOW TO MAKE THEM USE swords as secondary weapon,..
they just charge with invisible swords and fight, and, the 'base' texture
I am using for this model is an EB texture for a two handed sword..
so it goes well as phalanx but I dont know how to input the swords...

I am sure that it needs to be done 'connected' with the model and texture in 3dmax - but how.. ??

To add the texture press m on your keyboard and then maps, it's pretty simple from there.

Is the sword called secondary weapon and attached to the right hand bone, if yes then you need to make sure the unit has a secondary weapon in the export_descr_units file in your EB data folder.

    It is attached fine

it's just that I would like to make a 'tga' out of the model and then add skins in photoshop - how do I do that?
I went 'm' and maps - but It does not work for me, I dont know how to upload the *dds that is already made ... Still If you can help me by shortly explaining to me how do just 'save as' my *cas model into some kind of 'dds' - I would be more then happy..

I am not sure if I am clear

Ok, you don't make the model into a tga, the tga is the texture, located in the Data/models_unit/textures folder.

A unit is made of two parts, the .Cas file (model) and the tga.dds (texture)

From the pic above your problem is the sword needs to be UV mapped.

    See here.

One thing Gos missed is that you need to copy the skin(right click copy), edit the UV map and then paste the skin back(right click paste, in the stack), that way you don't have to re-weight the vertices.

You might find this easier if you DL Prof's video tutorials, also in the tutorials section.
