Enemy reinforcements won't attack--Gahh..
While defending against 2 stacks of attackers, commonly after I have destroyed one the other stack just sits there and won't attack or withdraw.
I presume this is a known problem. The question is how to work around it best.?
I could use timed battles but I don't like to as its too easy to exploit this to win a close seige etc.
I usually send a small sacrificial unit to the stationary second attackers and sometimes this has the effect of getting them to attack.
Attacking the attackers with an all out approach obviously brings the battle to its conclusion but you have sacrificed your good field position. (In my last battle I had mainly pikes left to fight polish missile cavalry and one thing pikes can't do is chase down cavalry. I used my spare general units which promptly got killed....)
Any illumination on this topic appreciated.

I've experienced this more than a few times in M2TW and Kingdoms. Yeah, I hate to give up my field position but what else can I do. I'll be sitting their for countless hours if I don't commit. Maybe it's been fixed or can be fixed in a battle AI mod.

Has anyone ever had AI units on the battle map but found it impossible to attack them because the unit info stated that they hadn't entered the battle yet? I even tried to move my archers up close to see if they would fire on them, they wouldn't.

Just once so far. The weird thing is that the enemy didn't even have that many troops on the map, I've fought against larger forces before without experiencing it. The battle map was a fairly flat one (if it happened on one of those crazy 50% cliff maps I could understand). I even managed to get attacked from all 8 directions once without experiecing it.
