    Default Question on Sabeans

    Hey guys, quick question:

In our guy's campaigns, do the the Sabeans actually expand? In two of my most recent campaings that I am working on, the Sabeans have taken no territory, prefering to just sit back and build endless stack.

Is this normal or is it just a coincidence?

    Thanks

well in my camapaign they have seemed to attack Egypt, on the most southernly Egyptian city just across the Red Sea. Other than that they havny expanded at all, maybe this is becasue Egypt and Seleucids (who are allies!) are both attacking them on either sides, but they seem to hold on.

In my campaigns i've noticed that their stack that gets sent over to attack North-east (ie towards seleucids, not ptolemies) gets stuck. And just sits there all campaign. Which means they never continue to expand in that direction.

It kinda kills any chance they have of doing well in my campaigns

I am not sure if it has to do anything with the new 5.6.1 version, but in my current campaign they are expanding like there is no tomorrow (well, compared to other campaigns I've played). They have taken the whole arabic peninsula (except for the settlement in the middle of the desert) and have expanded to include Petra and the settlement north of that... I've forgotten the name. This is the first time they are putting real pressure to the Seleucids and Ptolemies.

In my current campaign - maybe AAR - as Egypt they've betrayed me and attacked to the east of Damascus - I lost my two spear units in the battle but then a full stack arm from southern Egypt/Sudan boated accross the red sea and crushed em good. Mwa ha ha ha ha

    Hey guys,

I have a Saba question from the opposite point of view. I'm playing as Saba on H/H and I'm stuck. I love the feel of this faction, its a whole different feel from the Greek factions i'm used to. But the Selucids and Ptolemies are slowly crushing me while endless bandits besiege my core cities. My small navy is desperately trying to keep my ports open. What are some strategies for Sabean success?

    Please, my bands of scrappy desert warriors can't hold out much longer :-}

    Thanks in advance

The Sabaeans have been pretty quiet in my test campaigns as well. I've given them a little boost for the next version.

HopliteLysander: The approach that worked for me was (1) Avoid conflict with the Seleucids at all cost, (2) Avoid conflict with the Ptolemies until you have captured most of Arabia, (3) Then expand through East Africa/Southern Egypt.

Once you capture Egypt you're set.

I like them for the scare infantry, so infantry rout before you even hit them when charging from the back. They can also be used like HA's but since they tear up cavalry, they're both better and worse for that. THey don't have the firepower of HA's, but with enough and some archers you can harry them and lure them with the chariots and take them out once they're weakened with heavier guys, like temple guard and heavy spearmen.

    Bonjour All!

A quick question, in my Saba campaign. I just got a message at the start of my turn that said something like...

"A Rebellion in the Greek City States has swept the old leadership away and new rulers now lead the people"

I'm on the other side of the map so it doesn't really effect me, but what does this mean? I assumed it meant that one of the two Greek factions had been wiped out but that doesn't seem to be the case as the Independent Greeks still have that city in North Africa and the Greek City States hold Rhodes. Is it some type of scripted event?

    Thanks in advance!

It means that the GCS were wiped out and the IGCS turned into the GCS. Either your map isn't up to date or the IGCS emerged again after a rebellion.

    DBH,

You are 100% correct, I checked an older save just for kicks and it looks like the Rhodian Greeks were conquered by TSE (wiping them out) and then rebelled themselves back into the game. Hey, and thanks for replying so quickly to a total Newb question.

I've never played a non-Greek campaign before, Its a whole different experience. Ive almost destroyed the Ptolemies but thelast two cities are infected with plague so I am holding off for now. Selucia is basically Queen Bee-yatch of the universe. they have isolated the Bactrians, destroyed the Pontus and Armenians, own all of Asia Minor and are in the process of taking the Scythians to the woodshed...Also they keep sending me messages with a "pay money or I'll wipe you off the map" sort of tone. I think things are about to get interesting in a hurry!

I've never seen Seleucia expand south of Charax because the city/town in question just rebels against them.
