    Default Units discussion thread

    In here will be talk to do with units and how they work in my Kingdoms Grand Campaign Mod.

    Thank you for this great mod (and sorry for my poor english). It's my favourite at this time.
    I don't know if it is a bug or your choise... In the sicilian campaign I can recruit dismounted broken lances far far before dismounted norman knights (I need the last stade of barracks to recruit dismounted norman knights), altough dismounted broken lances have plates armors and look like to be leater units than the normans.
    Maybe Dismounted Norman Knights do appear a little late then. I propose to change this so that they are available one building earlier with Sword and Buckler Men, but will get +1 exp in the armoury (last barracks).

    Right then, lets look at the castle barracks from the drill_square upwards. Then we will look at stables and see where I have made each unit available. Feedback on this would be most helpful as I want to get this as perfect as I can.

    I think your idea of making dismounted norman knights available with swords and bucklers man is good. For the rest the barracks seems to be ok for me. Perhaps dismounted knights with plates armors appears a little too early: I've already seen armies with chivalric dismounted knights and mailed knights, what is historical and esthetical strange.

    Yeah I know what your saying, but I would like to keep Dismounted Feudal Knights at the Drill Square. Don't forget this campaign starts in year 1180 and in this time I want to see armies of knights and dismounted knights very early on. Maybe some knights with plated armour are a little to early though and should be only recruitable from Fortress barracks. Thanks for your feedback and I will update you on what changes I make.

    To my mind it is necessary to add Musketeers for France (already done by myself) and one sword unit for Russia (it can be unit based on Forlorn Hope, for example).

    I have another suggestion : lancers and gothic knights seems to me a little bit too weak compare to other late knights. Gothic knights are 11/13, lancers 11/14, and chivalric knights usually 11/17. Gothic looks terrible but always loose against chivalric, despite their maces. For HRE imperial knights are cheaper than gothic, form the same effect: imperial knights are 8/16 (=24), gothic knights 11/13 (=24), in this case there is no interest in fact, except the exthetic, for the HRE player to recruit gothic knights.

    Thanks to your suggestion I will make a small improvement for Gothic knights then.

    Also I am considering adding Dismounted Broken Lances to Venice atm. And I was thinking about adding them for Milan too, as they only have DFK right now. Should I keep it so Milan has poor late infantry units? or give them this extra unit?

    This would mean I'd make Famiglia Ducale recruitable back at mayors_palace instead of at stables. And add Broken lances to earls_stables for Milan as well. Thoughts on this change?

    I'm agree, Milan should have one good infantery unit, Dismounted broken lances should be an common italian unit, like the dismounted chivalric knights for western kingdoms. Or give to Milan dismounted men at arms. But just DFK is too few. But why do you want move famiglia ducale to mayor's-palace?

    PS: when you will modify gothic knights... don't forget french lancers!

    i think that the russian cavalry is the best cavalry in medival time
    but if fact the strongest cavalry in Russia is the light cavalry(they same as molgol both strong in ranger and close combat) so is you make change may be at the light cavalry(the heavy cavalry isn't too strong so i have no comment about them)

    To summarize this for you the big changes are Feudal Knights are now buildable at castles. Norman knights and Dismounted Norman Knights have also been brought forward to castles, but -1 to defensive skill of norman knights so this is balanced. All lancers and dismounted lancers now available from the fortress, with the exception of Byzantine Lancers and Dismounted Byzantine Lancers which stay where they are. Broken lances and Dismounted Broken Lances not buildable anywhere until the citadel. Dismounted Chivalric Knights moved back to barracks at citadel as well for france.

    I don't know if it is important...but you haven't always made the addition in the export-descr-unit. For example dismounted broken lances are 10 (attack-pri), but in unit info there is 9.
