Default new Mobo, CPU and ram. no need to reinstall windows?!!

so, cool story. i get a new CPU, mobo and ram. before i was useing AMD, not Intel so this is a totally new type of CPU as well as chipset.

didnt wipe the hard-drive. pluged all the new things in, powered on and windows loaded my settings without crashing :hmmm:

uninstalled in the nividia chipset stuff, all the amd cpu stuff, installed the intel stuff and it works fine, no crashes, no problems what so ever. my father is in the ICT industry and this must be my 5th motherboard and nether of us have seen anything like this before, real shock. i didnt even think it was possible.

there where a few "hic-ups" on the first boot, but booting in safe mode to uninstall the amd stuff worked. and it saves me loads of install work

    Nice.

Is that possessor 3.0GHz? If so I've got the same!

EDIT: Is that the Welsh flag I see in the background?

Pretty harsh - Me and my flatmate were both upgrading motherboards a couple of weeks ago. I was telling him "look, chances are it will work fine, but you may want to uninstall all chipset drivers first just to be sure, and youll probably have to reactivate vista." while he was convinced windows would just fall over and die.

I was changing my motherboard though to the same chipset, whereas he was changing from AMD to Intel.

So naturally, my windows installation just bluescreens when i power it up, and his just waltzes into windows no problems whatsoever - he didnt even have to reactivate. Pfft.

Though he formated the windows partition in the end anyway, fresh start is usually the best way.
