Do I have to be connected to the internet or to Steam when playing M2 installed from Steam?

Unless you play multiplayer it is not necessary as far as I know. I believe that holds true for any single player game.

    PDF file updated:

Automatic installation of the kingdom campaigns (DLC) only works if you have the code from the gold version disk

I have both sets (gold/non-gold) have tried it, only gold updated all the way/installed kingdoms.

You must have the Steam Client running before launching the M2TW, otherwise you won't be able to play M2TW.

While the the client has to run it does so off line just as well - you will however have to set it to off line manually: double click the clients desktop icon, click on 'Steam' in the top left and then choose 'off line'. This setting will remain until you reverse it, even when restarting your computer.

That's correct, but people should know that doing that will also disable to possibility to use the Cloud feature of a gamesave.

Still people must connect to Steam via internet to use the offline mode for the Steam Client, however, once that is done it is what you said.

There is no cloud save option for M2TW that I know of, other then that 'off line' and 'cloud' have always been mutually exclusive - I would assume you get a message to that effect if you wish to save to the cloud while not online with Steam or otherwise.

Since M2TW is available on Steam, I think the Cloud feature exist at least it exist for Skyrim and Civ5.

But I'll check that later when I have some free time.
