Default So MalwareAlarm got into my computer...

    And is slowing it down...

It came out of nowhere when I opened my computer this morning.
I've heard of MalwareAlarm before, so I was surprised that I got it.

I went online to look for anyway to get rid of it and found two options:

I can use Spyhunter, True Sword, etc, but I have to pay to get rid of the problem. The holidays are over and I'm not willing to pay $20-$30 to get rid of an annoying problem.

    or

I can manually remove it, but I'm afraid that I might end up ruining my computer even more if I do. And the methods they showed online confused me. They say that I should unregister the DLL files, remove stuff from the registry, but I don't even know how to.

What do you guys recommend? Are there any programs that can remove MalwareAlarm that doesn't require pay? Or maybe a more detailed way of manually removing the parasite?

I already deleted some malicious folders, which made my computer a bit faster. But it is still slow.

So, can anyone help me with this problem?
    Help would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: Also, my internet has been acting weird lately, keeps losing connection and getting it back. I think it has gotten infected too...

I'm not good with virus removal, but, don't pay to have it removed. That's ridiculous.

Yes, I am being pedantic, but no, that was not the official site, and I've no idea what comes with that version

    I tried.

But the only date I can restore to is today...
I can't go back a month for some reason.

I used Spybot and eliminated the problems, but I still experienced slowdowns.

Don't use any bullcrap pay-programs. Not only are the virus creators attempting to steal your money, but so are the companies who make anti-virus programs. Those programs are mostly just idle and truly removing every spyware is impossible. Once MalwareAlarm infiltrates your system, it releases the information, opens new ports and immobilizes firewalls so other spyware may enter as well. It basically ruins your entire computer. Uninstall windows and clear your entire hard drive, then re-install Windows. Tadaa. You'll have lost everything but you're off to a fresh new start.

You can also use an external hard drive to save some of your most valued data before you remove it from your computer, which is a great idea.

Well, you may be down to squashing the fly with a sledgehammer: have you ever reformatted a computer and reinstalled windows before?

If there was a decent real-time AV/anti-spyware program running, he wouldn't have got it in the first place, so they're hardly useless

Yes I have, but that shall be my last option.

But seeing as that no one has provided any other options, reformatting seems to be my only one left...

Luckily, I have an external hard-drive.
All of my games (except for Steam games) as well as other important programs and files are stored in it.

But, will that drive be infected as well?

If your to the point of reinstalling then go ahead and try to go through the instructions to remove it (nothing to lose). Follow the instructions precisely and don't be worried about messing things up since your at the point of reinstalling anyway. If you run into a specific part that stumps you, post and we might be able to guide you through it.

If that doesn't work then go here and follow the instructions. The help you get over there is top notch and they should be able to get you fixed up. Best of all it's free.

I'm sure I heard somewhere that TrueSword is a form of malware, but don't take that as gospel. But as someone else said, you can't go wrong with Spybot - Search and Destroy. It's free and it's caught a few nasties before they got on my PC!
