    Default For All The Modders-POPE

Sorry if the topic name is a little strange so let me get to the point. King Kong thank you for the great mode but something happened i find stupid.

For the last month i have been playing with england and in my campaign pope has won all the Italy and Germany. As factions got excommunicated pope went on war with them and he won region after region. I find that very stupid. If pope could be limited to province Rome but provided with enough income to maintain one powerful army and constant producing of agents like inquisitors. If we think logically if there is a rebel province near Rome(those rebels are also catholic, nice pope that is attacking all of them). Although there is a small chance for this to happen it still happens.

I also noticed something. In new SS templars get overrun by Egypt in 9/10 games in first 30-40 turns. I hope u can also make templars a little more of the challenge. You could make their troops more powerful because historically they were always very outnumbered but managed to win here and there. For example, Battle of Montgisard, templar force:375 knights,
80 Templars, Several thousand infantry; Saladin force:About 30,000. Casualties: Templar:1100 killed, 750 wounded; Saladin: About 27,000.
Sorry if this is a lousy topic i just wanted to point this things i find a little annoying.

I kind of like the idea of a warmongering, imperialistic Pope.

I have also seen this, I have had a Pope who took Italy, and then sailed across and took Spain.

But I like this, I just find it really funny. Anyhow I always get on the good side of the Pope so I can control him ratehr well.

Er, I would like a crusade here, and there...Oh what the heck Crusade every where!!!

I also like that idea but look at this. Played for month, although i had lots of business to do Java and so on, and now pope messed me totally, cant expand anywhere and finish game. Expanding is good but with limit. It is stupid if Pope conquers all the Europe without decent counter-attack. No one opposed his expansion. That is stupid.

Oh I see your point now, you could try, if you have alot of money, to try and bribe him to give you some of his settlements. It could work....Other than that there isnt that much else you could do.

That's what I am trying to point. If he goes on rampage and i am his neighbour i would go on rampage against him. It is logical. Currently it is bugged. No one opposes him. Still papacy expanding is stupid for me although it provides new challenge in the game it ruins my medieval realism :hmmm:

It does sound screwed now, like you say Pope can only have little expansion. How many Catholic factions are left? As you could.. as a last resort attack him back to Italy, or Rome, then try and get a ceasefire.Otherwise it looks like you might have to restart or try and hop the Papal Empire.

I dont know how you are, but I would be really pissed off with this, as it sounds like you have been playing this campaign for ages!

I played all total wars and i like to play slowly. Really like to roleplay charachters so quark pls finish your mod as soon possible. Already started new campaign with Byzantium but just wanted to point current papacy. I mean Papal States historically always had protectors. Why would you fight if u can send for exam. Karlo The Great to do the job.

I had an extremely aggressive pope take France, Germany and Poland! He had a larger empire than me!

My pope sits in Rome just nicely. That might be because Milan owns all of Italy atm.

In my current game Milan has taken Rome and the pope is homeless, I'm playing as Lithuania or I would secure Rome and give it back to him as I've done before, but more times than not he does get tooooo aggresive.

It has happened a few times to me. Are you sure you installed Lusted's final AI in to the \medieval\MODS\stainless_steel\data folder ?

    not the \medieval\stainless_steel\data folder

I did that the first time i installed it. Lusted said that he lowered the popes aggresiveness in his final version.

Of course i did installed it in right folder. If you ask me pope shouldn't need to have aggressivity nor should catholic factions towards him. I think like this, pope has enough money for one army of strong professional, like swiss guard or templar guards(mixed army of course) not too easy to defeat and led with a prolly very good general. Catholic factions defeats pope- is reconciled, violently places for pope one of it's cardinals, non catholic factions defeats pope, pope is banished somewhere and awaits return. This is just my idea.

I think it would be better if the Pope went on 'Crusades' into non-Catholic lands instead of attacking into Europe, which is almost normally Catholic. I think this would make much more sense as the Pope would be participating in his own Crusade.

In my milano campaign i got excomm'd and pope attacked me, next turn pope died and i got recoinciled, so his army is just standing infront of naples. Not going to move elsewhere. In vanilla, i had papal states also joining many crusades after sicily attacked them -> pope conquered italy, and was after that capable of fielding crusader armies.
