    Default Marriages

Hello ppl! I just bought the game and have been playing it for three days and nights. It's just so awesome. One thing I was wondering, is how marriages affect politics? I haven't really paid any attention to whom I marry my heritants and my enemies REALLY hate me. A lot. Can it be because I have married to their princesses and yet continued to wage war? At one point I tried for long to get ceasefire with my enemies but they just hated me more. I even tried gifting one province with the ceasefire but it still was very demanding.

If you wage war after a marriage alliance I believe that you instantly go to abysmal standing with that faction, not sure on that one though. A marriage alliance which is honoured is the best political alliance you can get, because they usually won't backstab, but if you backstab then be prepared for their full fury. I always tried to marry Constance, the French starting princess, but as England I had to expand that way so I declared war. They hated me for a hundred years

But it isn't a marriage alliance when you get the screen for a potential suitor? The one where you press yes and then they are married with no deals(?). Only once have I seen a marriage in the diplomacy screen and that one I didn't accept.

No, those are just random women suitable for your faction members. You can marry your princesses to other factions heir in the diplomacy screen, that will strenghten your relations.

If you marry one of your princesses to a non-family general, he joins the family and gets more loyalty. I don't think you can distinguish a princess from a random female if you don't know what your princesses are called. I always click yes when I have a marriage offer for an unmarried general, only to find out that my princess has disappeared.
You can also attempt to have other faction's generals marry one of your princesses. He will then join your faction (doesn't work for heir or faction leader), but the chances are very slim for generals with good traits.
When females give you a marriage offer it pays to look at the traits that are given to the general in question.

It also pays to make sure the princess is at least half way with hearts in her ratings. Otherwise your general gets traits that decrease his chances of having children.
