Default What is the Best Strategy When Playing as Egypt?

I figured I'd try as Egypt after I conquered the world (well almost) with the Holy Roman Empire. What I was wondering about was answers to diffrent questions like if I should attack the turks or the byzentine empire and what rebel setelments to conquer.

I know that Egypt is a popular faction to play as and I figured there had to be someone out there who knew an effective way when playing as Egypt.

Ive never played with them, but Ive played against them. Use your mounted archers wisely.
Go west to conquer the Moors, or go North to take Jerusalem and the Holy land. Prepare, for you will face resistance from the crusaders, Mongols and Timurids. Just my advice.

If you dont play any mod you will succeed with the Egyptians rather easily. I dont think you can loose with them in a vanilla game. You get the best money making provinces (Jerusalem, Antioch, Nikosia, Cairo, Alexandria) are close to the most important islands and areas in greece. and you dont have to go to war with the turks, rather ally with them as well as the moors they are basically your only friends against crusaders.

If you use a lot of assassins you dont even have to worry about crusades too much. Just let them hang out in greece or near constantinopel and train their skills on byzantine and venice captains, merchants and diplomats. as soon as a crusader army comes along, you cut off its head and the result is a headless army in someone elses territory

Your strenghts are played out best in desert areas as well as sieges. Open field battles against european armies are very difficult due to the superior cavalry that the europeans have. what you have are cheap medium quality troops. you can spam Saracen Militia and will find them one of the better spear units against anything that comes along from Europe, even if you have to have a 2:1 odd to win

so rely on horse archers, light infantry with throwing spears, more horse archers and your heavy cavalry generals, some Royal Mamluks as well as Hashishim your best shock troops.

Also Naffatun are great units, but you have to learn to use them right. as soon as you figure that out, Egypt is ready to go for Rome

As Samir said, in vanilla Egypt are extremely easy. Their economy is one of the strongest in the game and their position is easily defended. If played correctly, they CAN'T loose!

First thing to do is to blitzkreig your way north. You want to capture those castles to the north of Antioch before the turks get there. Once done, get an alliance with the Turks and Moors and start to build up your cities and castles. Unlike with other factions, money won't be a problem, so don't convert many of your castles to cities. You need them to produce quality troops to use against the Mongols, Crusaders or if the Turks betray you.

Crusaders should not be a problem if you do as Samir told you. Assassins aren't as good as they were in Rome, but when used in numbers at least one of them should score a hit.

If you feel confident or just want something to do, break your alliance with the Turks and take all of Asia Minor. Just make sure you don't do this when the Mongols invade or you will have no armies in the east to stop them. Use bridge-battles and castles to defeat the Mongols, you don't want to face them in an open field battle where their mounted and dismounted archers will beat yours.

    Good luck!

    conquer all surrounding cities

after have a huge empire (after conquer all the surrouding cities) call a jihad to europe (byzantium if possible)

    after that start conquering europe

this is the good solution for don't attack the other ally muslim factions (moors or turks)

What about the Mongol and Timurid invasion? They can truly be devastating against cities and small settlements...

Out of curiosity, what is your army composition as Egypt? I too find that the economy makes Egypt pretty easy, but I am curious about the armies you are using.
