Jade Empire 2 is Real
Code allegedly exists for Xbox 360.

January 2, 2008 - While most of us were gorging ourselves on holiday meals and napping away our vacations, news of Jade Empire 2 leaked to the net via The Mercury News. Dean Takahashi published an article stating that he spoke with someone who saw code for Jade Empire 2. "It's coming for the Xbox 360, and it's real," claims Mr. Takahashi. Rumors of the title have been floating around for years, but it is interesting to hear that the code exists for Xbox 360.

Whether the Jade Empire franchise will stay a PC/Xbox 360 exclusive or not remains to be seen. According to Microsoft the franchise is owned by BioWare, a company that was recently purchased by EA. It's no secret that EA prefers to publish its games for as many platforms as possible, putting any thoughts of exclusivity in limbo.

Microsoft, as usual, did not comment on the rumor. When we contacted EA, we were forwarded on to BioWare as the PR is still being handled separately. Representatives for BioWare could not be reached at this time, giving us a trio of no confirmation.

Thankfully, IGN's own David Clayman was willing to go on record with this statement, "There is no truth to the rumor that I have already awarded this game a perfect ten in the IGN databases. As far as we know the title may not even exist. However, if the game does come to fruition I will not dismiss the possibility that it will deserve a score of ten or higher."

I certianly hope so.
JE was another Bioware masterpiece and will really be looking forward to JE2 if true.

I would love to see a JE2 as well...I thought it was better than KOTOR in some ways if not only b/c of the change of time period and atmosphere. I think, however that the recent news concerning KOTOR III and JE2 are actually one in the same...it's most likely going to be one or the other...the question is which. Most likely and 3rd installment for KOTOR and a sequel for JE2 are on the way but won't be coming out at the same time.

I loved JE, I wish I hadn't lost my copy. The martial arts RPG should become a genre of it's own, the concept was pretty cool.

I bought the original Jade Empire and played it for the first time this week.

Why does everyone like it? I personally dislike it a lot. Its not dreadful, but its not very fun or interesting.

I'm used to playing Grand Theft Auto, so when I played my first non-shooter a few years ago, it was Fable -- and I LOVED Fable. It had all of the RPG elements of Grand Theft Auto -- property purchase, relationships, weapon and armer purchasing, and some other RPG extras like marriage and good/bad.

Jade Empire is supposedly an RPG, but...

The combat is restrictive and more like Tekken than Morrowind. The purchasing system sucks as you can only purchase very few weapons and a host of boring and similar magical elements. It just really sucks.

The environment itself is shut-in and restrictive. At least in Fable I could enter every building in the game and explore at my discretion!

I'm still not finished with this game and I'm on Level 5, I'm looking for a flyer and I hope it brings some fun into this boring game.

BTW, the Asian setting saves the damn game. I've wanted to play in an Asian setting since 1998 when I first played a PS1 demo in an oriental setting. Ever since. Now that I have the chance, it really sucks. I love Asian scenery, but not this game.

I didn't think JE was long enough, to be honest. Anyway, I'd prefer KOTOR3 with much improved and less restricted gameplay (i.e. Mass Effect, TES) over Jade Empire 2.

Wow if this true bioware has one hell of a full plate. Mass Effect PC, Dragon Age, Kotor 3, their MMORPG and now Jade Empire 2? Really liked JE not big on asian theme but the game won me over. Lots of rpg goodness and given Bioware's history longs of fantastic stories.

Not before Kotor 3, If they its released before Kotor 3 So help me i will go down to Biowares studio and burn their facilities to the ground before pissing on it and making a crop circle that says THUG LIFE in the adjacent field.

I agree with scorch, it wasn't long enough, admittedly, I never finish KOTOR or KOTOR 2, but I'd still prefer KOTOR 3 > JE2. I finished JE pretty quickly.
