Will there be AOR/ZORs ?
I've wondered, as I've kinda tampered with them in my campaign, with mercenaries, mostly vikings, in Scandanavia/Rus/British isles, for recruitment by certain factions.

That, and auxiliaries.
Edit: Also, wouldn't it be wicked-sweet if you could even base some of it on religion, like, " Muslim Greek, Serbian Muslim, Orthodox Italian, Etc. Etc. " It' be more unit slots though, but, I'm thinking rosters are going to be "cleansed", and whatnot, eventually?

This whole idea is based on hidden resources present in provinces. Remember RTW and Spartans in Sparta and Syracuse?
So if there's resource "camels", you can train camels and so on.
I don't know (and doubt) if it's possible to base unit recruitment on religion.
In perfect world you would recruit based on religion, culture and loyalty of a province...
Its possible with religion. Its from the Teutonic Campaign, and Britainnia campaign.
I thought the new RC had this feature
I know this would a coding nightmare and don't know if its even possible, but wouldn't it be easier to have each settlement on the entire map have set units it can recruit no matter which faction owns it? maybe not completely historically acurate, but perhaps if the Auxillia is built it could provide certain units specific to your faction?
Only problem I see is if Egypt Takes Jerusalem they sure as hell aren't going to get Christian Knights fighting for them
Have to figure out a way to add Religion into it.
Just a thought. I know thats probably how you would plan to do it but I have never heard anyone really talk about it in detail.

Historically, they did. In return for sparing their lands and peasants, knights served in the Muslim armies.Only problem I see is if Egypt Takes Jerusalem they sure as hell aren't going to get Christian Knights fighting for them

area of recruitment is there for mercenaries, thats good enough. For the main roster it would ruin the game for me completely.
Well, I was thinking quite often about an AOR/ZOR system.
However, actually I agree with Inhuman One and I think it would destroy the uniqueness of every faction.
On the one hand it would logical that camels can't be recruited i.e in scandinavia, but on the other hand why shouldn't England be able to recruit/equip Knights or Longbowmen in the desert?
Of course, those Knights couldn't fight very well in the desert, but this fact is actually represented in the unit stats that heavyily armored units will suffer from heat. Maybe I will emphasize this feature a bit more.
This are just some things that came to my mind but there are probably mayn other problems, too.

I'm not saying too many restrictions, I mean in the manner of having units from acrossed the map, certain cultures, "factions" that didn't make the cut, etc. etc. Just some barrier units, and certain "unique" things. The basic rosters wouldn't be entirely blocked out, but having like, well, If the Poles start moving east, they'd start encountering more of the nomadic steppe-styled Slavs, than the Settled types they are. Perhaps, integrating them in as Conscripts etc.
Like the dominion of the camel was not limited to the deserts, in its peak, and due to distribution, the camels, I think of both sorts reigned from Southern Iberia, and very far into Central, and Southern Asia.
It'd be nice, is all. Like, for example, I think the Mongols would be perfect for this. Having ZOR/AOR, things. They have their basic roster, but to give them the flair, and whatnot, their infantry, since they lack it, and more historically, would be conscripted from local populations. To fight against their own people, so they'd be reluctant, etc. etc.
Another thing would be the ability to fill some Gaps in Rosters, without actually "handing" those factions units.
I think that could all be tweaked with the mercenaries.
It will be OK if I can still recruit my own faction units (maybe with lowered recruitment rate) or implement England campaign ETW sistem but use spy/assasin/merchant/family members to change cultural influence .
