Castle problems
Hey all,
So I am playing VHVH and I can not seem to get my castles to fortress. They grow so slow and kind of crap out at 7,000 populations (yes I do have all farm upgrades).

Re: Castle problems
Try adding a nice authority/piety/chivalry general there. Also kill nearby rebels.

Re: Castle problems
This has been done too. May I also add that I am Kievan Rus and that growth is slow.

Re: Castle problems
You want a nice Fortress? Take Bran. Or Smoleńsk.

Re: Castle problems
This is true. The best way to get a fortress is to take one from someone else.
Delra, what is the exact effect of killing nearby rebels? What, exactly, is harmed by leaving the rebels alone?

Re: Castle problems
From my observations, Ragusa is the fastest fortress now.

Re: Castle problems
funny thing is I notice that the AI castles almost always grow faster then my own. Only in my current campaign with england do my castles grow at a decent rate.

Re: Castle problems
Yeah. I noticed that too. Maybe AI is getting some sort of a population growth bonus to make up for them not building farms at all? Maybe this bonus is broken and adds too big bonuses for castles, which, with lower population needed to upgrade a castle, could cause all that?

Re: Castle problems
They are getting the growth bonus. Sure. Every ai settlement grows faster than yours... I have been considering giving them a couple of castles that never grow, to retake them when fatter....

Re: Castle problems
I think this thing needs balancing. Fortress in Stettin in 70th turn is way too much...
