First of all, make sure you download the mod version 4.1, and NOT 5.1. 5.1 is for Med II Kingdoms.
As to your question: Its fairly simple, just download the mod, and its patch. Then open them (mod first, patch second) and direct them to your game's location.
This doesn't overwrite anything so you will still be able to play vanilla or other mods.
