    Default hmmmmmmm

I've played RTR platinum (1.7) some months ago. Best darn mod I've played. Wosn't quite happy about one thing: no imperial reform. Been suggested to try Imperator II, read ybout it, got interested, so I downloaded, installed it...

I really did expect a modified RTR with Imperial reforms, and some minor changes if any, since RTR was quite ok. First thing I didn't like was the 4 turns script, but hey, I can live with that. But then every couple of turns Illyrians kept landing in Italy, and so did the carthaginians, CONSTANTLY, every couple of turns, weather they had a considerate army, or just a couple of infatry units. And so on, and on, and on, even if I make caesfire with them, they just keep coming. And then the return of Pyrrhus, I killed him in the begining, one of first battles, he came back later as a captain with an army IN THE MIDDLE of Italy??? And then again the Illyrians, invading Sicily?? and cisalpine Gaul CONSTANTLY, practically following my every move, I toggled FOW, and realized that they expanded all the way north bordering Germans, in just a few years. As for all others, eg. Seleucids, Carthaginians, Egyptians, they all expanded so much in just a few years, there was hardly any rebel provinces left on the map.

For someone into this kind of stuff, maybe this is all ideal, for me it just ain't it, since this is not what I expected at all. I like to play game slowly, strategicaly, I'm no blitzkrieg fan...

Hmmm... Perhaps there's a way for me to try and modify the RTR myself (which will be hard given the fact I'm not THAT good in scripting, or modding to that level, and my work consumes much of my time too) so that I have the original RTR Platinum and try to add Imperial reforms into it.

anyway, nice idea with the mod, hope other people like it...

Playing with BI.exe will result in more naval invasions. Another regular occurence when playing as Rome is the Carthaginian landings in Campania. The way to stop this is to either have a stronger navy so you can sink them before they get to your shores, or to take the fight to them and raid their territories. With Carthage, there is little likelihood of your getting a stronger navy than them in the early game, so the best solution is to take Sicily. With the Illyrians, sinking their starting navy usually sets them back a bit.

NB. The above is from playing RTRPE with BI.exe and MNM with BI.exe. Imperator may be different, but the strategy is probably fairly similar.

I can't remember this much landings from Carthaginians or Illyrians at all happening in RTR... anyway, I'd probably settle with those invasions, if they weren't occuring so often.. every couple of turns, that in 4tpy means at least one invasion per year, sometimes even two. where is realism or historical accuracy in that???
