    Default Potential Superpowers

it's always funny, how certain unlikely factions tend to become superpowers in their own right, and then u get the same likely contenders. like in rome, u could almost bet that egypt would become really powerful.
well in my M2:TW campaign as Sicily Vh/VH i've got Hungary and Denmarck as superpowers. the english were superpowers but they paid the blood price after they betrayed me
i reckon milan has a lot of potential to become a superpower considering how eager they are to backstab ppl...

so who're the unlikelely or potential superpowers in ur game?
    pls post screenshots!!

No screenshots, but it always seems that either Denmark or Poland...Or even both become superpowers. The rest of the factions just kill each other off and then those two mop up. Dunno 'bout the rest of you, but Denmark seems to own everyone around them, badly.

In the early period, i'd say without envirionment effects Denmark has the best armies pound for pound in the world. They always seem to score two stacks of feudal knights and huscarls, both mounted and dismounted at turn 25. France, HRE and Poland are usually all at war with someone at that point, so Denmark just cleans up.

I haven't actually beaten this game yet (dang limited amount of turns making me not have time to do all I want to do), but the Holy Roman Empire seems to be the ones that always go out and attack random groups early on.

France always dies in my games, Always. So I always ally them to try to even it out and Milan is always my first target. Poland always dies, so does Russia, and the HRE. Hungary never really becomes a super power tho. It's usually Portugal and the Turks / Egypt who get it on. Sicily does alright too.
The pleasure about a dream is that it's a fantasy. If it ever came real then it wasn't a dream.

Check out the superpowers in my current game (SS 5.1). It certainly keeps things interesting when I have powerful foes even this late in the game. The HRE is obviously my biggest enemy, but I've managed to create a shaky alliance with them while I purge the Iberian peninsula of Moors and restore Roman rule.

no screens but it seems that the moors have become a pretty large empire/kingdom (however you should call it :p) they have taken about half north africa, spain, portugal and large parts of france. this is handy in my campaign as HRE since i can crusade at will and keep staying at a good position with my good old friend the pope

Obviously, I can't really see and thus judge that much, but according to the statistics and what I've seen while conqering, Milan (my allies, lol), Portugal, the Ottomans and the Moors are pretty big, the Moors having the second biggest army right after me (the danish).
Could anyone tell me how to reveal the whole damn map?
    That toogle_fow cheat doesn't work.
Also, the other nation's armies always assure me they want no trouble wiht us when I click on them, except of the HRR, who would ahve become a serious treat if I hadn't so decisively fought them. I lost three generals and two full stacks to them, though one of the generals was sent to death purposedly.

Also, I beg Kaiser to either cut the mini map or jost post a link/thumbnail. That's horrible when having a resolution less than 2400xWhatever.

Tch, everytime in my game its HRE, Venice, Hungary (biggest), and Egypt.

The ones that always get wiped out are Portugal (everytime), Milan, the Byzantines, Turks, Mongols.

People that become powerful but never become a superpower are France, sometimes Spain, rarely England and Denmark.

The rest never seem to expand at all!!!

How come evryones games are so different?

    Thanks.

Also, regarding my campaign, it seems now that the Moors and Byzantines are to get the two superpowers besides of me, with the ottomans and egypts (tough guys, I didn't know they almost wiped out the Crusader States) being hunted down by me.

Other than that, Sicily and Milan could become extremely influental and a risky opponent for anyone to attack them.

Can depend on whether or not the players actions affect a particular potential superpower.

I've seen Denmark take the top spot quite often but if someone's playing as a nearby faction and hammers Denmark then obviously it's not going to go so well for the Danes.

What would be interesting is playing as England, conquering the Isles and then just leaving it at that. Establish a nice comfy seat of power for the next couple of hundred years then remove the FOW and see who's come out on top.

that aint no bad idea. but i think your economy would suffer under it since you don't have trade rights :p

Obviously you'd go out and get trade rights. Play the game the way you normally would just don't invade the mainland.
