    Default Castles...

Hey guys, I've always wondered are the castles in this game hardcoded? Is there anyway to add new ones or revamp the current ones? I really think that some of the Castles in the game are very poorly designed.

And man oh man would it be so much cooler if you could actually put archers on top of the defensive towers. Or actually take advantage of the main building in a castle?

Grant it I know there will be limitations for quite some time and probably nothing what I've said is even possible, but meh just wanted to see.

I agree they are awful, for example unit deployment system can make an adult man cry, so can crenelations which prevent 3/4 of your on-wall archers and crossbowmen from shooting. There's little to do with that.

I think we have to wait for ETW for new technology to kick in... :-)

I'd rather have Rome 2. But I suppose they will make WWTW or something as much stupid instead.

I wonder if this game wouldn't be much better if we had no castles at all, just cities everywhere.

I would like something Ancient, but not so Rome-centered... I want a greater timespread the most... Probably from before-Alexander times, through Rome, ending in the Dark Ages.

I also would like to see some 16th and 17th century, as Empire, as I have heard will be based around 18th. =\

And please, no more Druid Hordes, Head Throwers and 3 Rome houses... I want them to make a game less fantastic, at least the same level as Shogun or Medieval.

I personally would like to see Machiavellian style castles and cities in the late period (ramparts, defensible earthworks and so on) and get away from the boxy looking early period architecture.

Its kind of strange that there are no moats of any kind. Kind of weird to have triple walls to keep back sieges but no moats. Would be usefull against canons, when the walls are broken they still need to cross some water. Water would protect better against canons than the thickest walls.

I also find it weird that theres an entire village/city within the walls. I dont think this was that common, the outer walls would have to be less strong as the inner walls since the last would be the actual castle.

There actually are moats in Kingdoms

You're right, normally (except in some large cities, like Constantinople and Jerusalem) much of the town would be outside the walls (or within an outer wall). There would then be an inner wall. Within that, would be the lord's household. There would then be, within the inner wall, the keep.

However, in smaller towns, it would just be an inner wall and keep, not some monstrous plywood wall surrounding the entire town

Use force push to break their formations and charge on the landspeeders... Then use Naffatuns with thermal detonators. =) And what about Gungan phalanx?

Really there was a strategy about Star Wars... Dunno if it's tactical. Tactical battles for SW would be pretty good, since it's a mixture of melee combat and ranged one.

Empire At War is kinda like a Total War version, on a much smaller scale.

Yes, the game was called Star Wars: Empire at War. I liked the space battles. Did you know that most of the people who work at Petroglyph used to be part of the legendary Westwood Studioes; the developer who gave the world Command and Conquer.

BTW, is it just me or are we getting off topic? No, I believe castles are hard-coded.
