Hmmm well I believe SPQR TW is less intensive in Campaign Map. I'm not entirely sure though been awhile since I played it.

the version 1.6 required for most mods is expended in gold, its higher than 1.6 and if you install for example Invasio Barbarorum, it will not work or crash eery few turns
That`s nonesense, sorry!
First of all there are more than one Gold packs. The first Gold pack to come out had RTW on three dics and BI on one disc. From what its users reported RTW was v1.5 and BI v1.4 and the problem was that when installed BI was downgrading RTW to v1.3. The problem was fixable by installing the BI v1.6 patch which upgraded both RTW and Bi to their latest versions. The second gold pack had RTW and BI on a single DVD disc and both were by default fully updated so that there were no more problems. The third Gold version contains RTW and ATW(instead of BI) and I haven`t heard of any issues with this pack either. That`s about it unless you`ve just discovered a new one.
Secondly, v1.6 is not required by most mods. v1.6 is the final version of BI(and not RTW or ATW) and alot of mods are made for RTW v1.5. While you might be able to play these with Bi v1.6 too, that`s only optional.
Thirdly, there is no higher version of BI than v1.6. For RTW incidentally the last version to come out is v1.5 and for ATW is v1.9, but there`s no way any of these(rtw v1.5 and atw v1.9) will downgrade or upgrade BI.
Fourthly, when the game`s version is not the one required by the mod there generally is a very identifiable CTD message or KTM message and you`d not be able to play the mod at all.
As a conclusion, you either don`t have a RTW Gold pack that includes BI v1.6 or you simply did not know how to install Invasion Barbarorum. The crashes every few turns are either because of a screwed install or present in the mod version you`ve tried.

Hi king salhaden. That file is broken i think, but no problem. If you installed the Alexander expansion, replace the lord of the ring chat filter with the alexander.
make backup of the LOTR chat filter first
So, from
Rome/Alexander/date/chat_filter.san
and copy it to
Rome/LordOftheRings/data/chat_filter.san
overwrite it.
If you dont have Alexander, I think deleting the file is enough. But im not sure in it, so make backup!
Regards
Well then you have to avoid any mods with huge scripts (á la "Europa Barbarorum") and/or superb graphics (like "Roma Surrectum2") I guess. And toggle of campaign map shadows in the graphic options - could also be a reason.
Mods without huge scripts and only slightly updated graphics would be
"Rise of Persia"
"XGM" or
"RTR Platinum Edition" (RTR 6.0 Gold [for RTW 1.3] updated to the RTW v.1.5 patch)
Fourth Age:Total War, runs no background scripts which means it's faster the above named mods. Plus it's got a smoother look.
Officialy now, my two favorite mods are Sparta Total War and Europa Barbarorum. The first because it has such a great map and depth for the greek culture, and the second because it gives the game great management depth and historical accuracy. I believe that a combination of these 2 mods would be ideal and perfect. Can this happen?
My bad :p I havn't played them, and judging from a glimspe of EB I assumed there was some relation.![]()
Any there any good mods that really utilize the 4 turns per year script
