If you don't know that you're going to like a mod you're trying, copy your RTW folder so you have two, then install the mod over the second (the intructions for Darthmod are simple, just direct the installer). If you don't like it, just delete the second folder. Also can be used for multiple non modswitch using mods at the same time, plus vanilla.

    The SPQR mod sounds interesting.

Too many points to address, but I'll try to answer as plainly as possible:

    1) I don't lose often. But I do lose. Everyone loses. But I haven't lost a commentary-battle yet if that's what you're wondering about.
    2) I've won all of the commentary-battles I've recorded so far. I would even have 5 more commentary-videos, but they exceeded the 10min length set by YouTube. And then scratch another commentary-victory because I accidentally deleted it before it could be uploaded.
    3) I don't record every single battle for commentary-videos. If you've kept up with me, you'd know that it's a hassle to record battles live. For starters, recording with FRAPS (while I'm playing) means I have to issue orders to my troops 5-6 times before they respond. Secondly, I don't record every battle because it would take 3+ hours just to make one commentary-video. It's not easy at all making these videos.
    4) If you've really seen all of my videos (as you hinted at), you would've seen two defeats on YouTube.

    Try XGM.

It only has 1 Roman faction, but it is great, and has many improvements.

Best is to simply copy the entire map that holds all the files of RTW and then install mods into the new map. Try anything that sounds interesting, after all you are the one that's going to play it.

Default Recommend MOD(s) (Don't kill me)

OK, I understand I'm a candidate to kill, but anyway:

I prefer the strategic part of the game instead of repetitive battles. Maybe something, where diplomacy has some real effect.
I'd like mod, which introduce slower expansions, limit huge armies, do something with squallor problem (so I don't have to transfer populations, exterminate it or so).

I also recall these annoying rebels and bandits appearing out of nowhere - I hated them. Mod, which would limit/remove these grey annoyances would be cool.

I don't like adding new cities, but I fear this is what just every mod do, or not?

So far it seems EB is a way to go. Or XGM for Greek factions.

Look here, it is a sticky which can be seen with a minimum amount of searching. Please refer to the sticky threads before making needless threads that are already here.

I enjoy Roma Surrectum a lot. It still doesn't put two much emphasis on diplomacy as such, but there are no more random grey rebel units, but it makes the game a lot more of a challenge by adding the Free People as a faction, as they hinder your advancement quite a bit. And in each settlement, you can also resettle people in the neighbouring countryside if the city gets too full.

Default Rome BI - main mods?

Which are the main mods to consider for RTW - BI?
I know not all mods are hosted on this site, that's why I ask.
I'm interested especially in these which would focus on the strategic part of the game, not only add new cities, units and new textures

Do I take it that INVASIO BARBARORVM is to consider? And others?
    Thanks

I understand and thank for the link, however, I have some specific questions

I downloaded RTR but I haven't installed it yet. I am wondering whether you can still play vanilla Rome after installing RTR?

XGM or EB for slow play, if you want a fast pace blitz-fest then RS is for you.
"So there I am, in Sri Lanka, formerly Ceylon, at about 3 o'clock in the morning, looking for one thousand brown M&Ms to fill a brandy glass, or Ozzy wouldn't go on stage that night. So, Jeff Beck pops his head 'round the door, and mentions there's a little sweets shop on the edge of town. So - we go. And - it's closed. So there's me, and Keith Moon, and David Crosby, breaking into that little sweets shop, eh. Well, instead of a guard dog, they've got this bloody great big Bengal tiger. I managed to take out the tiger with a can of mace, but the shopowner and his son... that's a different story altogether. I had to beat them to death with their own shoes. Nasty business, really. But, sure enough, I got the M&Ms, and Ozzy went on stage and did a great show."

It's really annoying when you create 2 virtually same threads. But to answer your question, do what I did. Download a bunch of mods and then pick your favorites.

Which in the future should be put in that thread...

For what you like, I'd suggest EB.

I would recommend EB or XGM. Personally, I don't really like EB. It was too slow paced for me, I like a lot of battles, so I play SPQR or Roma Surrectum.

XGM is basically vanilla Rome, but with new skins and the Greek factions are more in-depth.

I do not recommend Roma Surrectum unless you make it so it's 1 turn recruiting (which I haven't tried, I've only done 0 turn.) There are a TON of battles in Roma Surrectum with 0 turn recruiting, not sure about 1 turn though.

Also do not recommend SPQR for you. I mean, RS and SPQR are my two favorite mods, but they probably aren't what you're looking for.
