Rio VII is very hard, mostly because of the budgeting issues that some factions have. RS is very tough as well.

Hi Im looking for a mod that has lots of different/new units and factions to play as. Historical accuracy isnt that important to me, just looking for a (preferably popular mod) that adds a bunch of new things to the game and gives the campaign a couple of tweaks aswell.
Had a quick look at the mods and Im thinking I might like Rome total realism or Roma surrectum?
What do you think?
cheers in advance
It looks like Roma Surrectum is best for you. New skins, factions, units, more detailed map, new year system, 0 turn recruitment .... I think that fits what you want.
cheers mate, that sounds about right

Valerius Tiberius
i can vouge for that
The Imperator! Mod for Rome Total Realism is a rather difficult mod which lets you play as the Romans and have the fun as being the centerpiece and using manipular legions, but still being so extensively scripted that it becomes a challenge for the most experienced player. To my knowledge it no longer needs RTR to run.
Download it here:

First the 1.8 then the 2.1 patch. Then download the hotfix found here.

This is an extremely fantastic After Action Report written by MarcusCorneliusMarcellus a couple years ago that he is re-surfacing little by little, great read to get you in the mood for playing the mod!

Is there is a mod that preserves your family tree so that when a family member dies and is greyed out, his character info can still be seen instead of just disappearing? It would be nice to have a true record in-game of where my family has been, what they have done, etc.. instead of just greyed out pictures and writing it all out myself on Word.
Hello ,
I am looking for a mod that basically just expands the campaign map and prefferably nothing else. I'm using RTW 1.5.
Hmmm, I don't think there really is one that does nothing else to the game, but you could go into the Workshop forums and ask around for the Mundus Magnus map and how to implement it in RTW 1.5. That should give you a map that stretches almost to India.
I'll look into it, thanks.
I'm quite sure it's hardcoded as well. I think the best you can do is just to make a record as he does those things.
SPQR is the hardest mod I have played yet. Iberia: Total War is a challenge, as attack points for all units are drastically reduced, and hit points get more.
But SPQR's battles take like 2 hours. Come back after your first battle with Hannibal.
Hmmmm.... When do you mean by the height of Roman power? The FRRE mods are set in the time of the fall of the republic, and that's probably closest to the zenith of Roman power, but I need you to be more specific.
"I'm a member of mod team X. Mod X is by far the (add any positive superlative inquired about) mod there is!"
I think Xavier has it right, the FRRE mods show as close to the height of Roman power as any mod does. There's 3, IIRC, one about Pompey and Caeser (heavily scripted), another from 77BC (which is its name), and another I can't quite remember, check out there sub-forum for more info, in the TW Hosted Modifications.
There's also TFT (The First Triumvirate) and there's also now a 58BC one.
