Hi guys, I'm an Italian newbie, I've just dust down Rome from my games collection and, as I remember there are hundred of MODs for this game, I'd like to have an overall review to know which I can install. Who'd help me?

I've Rome patched to 1.5 and Barbarian Invasion to 1.6. Thanks everybody for your help!

XGM is usually the mod of choice for beginners, after that if you like it you can try XC, DTW, EB, RS or RTR

In the section of XGM there's a sub-section, XGM AARs, what would it be?

Start with XGM, once you get comfortable with that you can try the other mods I listed or any other hosted here... lots of good times to be had.

I'll start with XGM, since it's my first time with MODs, there are particular things I have to know? I've read, somewhere, there is a tool to manage several MODs, I can use it with XGM?

Does this MOD fix the 261 a.C. bug? If not, do you suggest me to use the patch by Sirius (which also unlocks all factions) or the .txt file method?

The mod fixes all bugs covered by the community patch, not sure about the tool but XGM doesn't alter your RTW folder.

Hosted means they have their own sub forum dedicated to that mod. Non hosted means they only have a thread.

I've played Rome 1.5 and BI 1.6 multiple times, and now I'm looking for a mod to spice things up a bit. It's all boring after Seleucids and WRE on VH/VH.

These are some of the things I'm looking for:

• regular campaign type
• bigger map, India would be nice and Arabia + Mesopotamia are too empty on vanilla
• historical regions and settlements
• reworked units for historical accuracy
• improved unit pathfinding
• better AI and diplomacy
• bigger "tech" tree and more unit diversity
• less units on the map on VH difficulty (I want full stacks to become a rare sight)

Is Darth mod the one I'm looking for?

Rome Total History satisfies at least 4 or 5 of your points, so you might want to give it a try.
