You're referring to the strat-map pic of the chinese wall (aka the Golden Wall of Shi Ping), I presume ?

Well, imo hoggy (Founder of BL) simply replaced a model of the wonders, so indeed it would be possible to replace a wonder in RTW with hadrian's wall, but afaik there are several hard-coded issues as far as wonders are concerned, so I'm not sure if you could place it somewhere else on the map,etc.

I remember playing this one LOTR mod. It wasn't LOTR-TW 2.0 nor was it FATW.

It was something different.
The campaign map was still that of Middle-Earth. The factions are still the same (well most of them I think). And the units where very different (different models, skins, etc.).

Is there any other LOTR-themed mods out there?

I'd have to suggest Europa Barbarorum then. The map extends farther into Africa and east into India. (Well, not present day India.) EB has it's own mod folder, but I think when you uninstall it it uninstalls Rome: Total War.

When it comes to units, Europa Barbarorum has many new units. Every unit is completely historically accurate and realistic, and they look cool too. The Romans have a lot of units too; there's the early Camillan infantry, the Polybian infantry (my favorites so far), Republican Legionaries, and Imperial Legionaries. EB also has 3 different reforms for the Romans, unlike vanilla Rome: Total War where there's only the Marian Reforms.

Europa Barbarorum is also hard economy wise, and for most factions it'll be tough in the beginning of your campaign. Another downside is that it takes long to start the game, and it takes a long time to load battles. There's also a lot of lag on the campaign map.

I'm one of the Admin type folks here at TWC and I haven't played total war in years. I went to play my shiny new copy of MTW2 that has lingered on my shelves ever since its release only to find a dodgy disk so I'm reinstalling Rome.

I only ever played Darth Mod, what would others recommend? I like the historical aspect but its not a game breaker for me. The main caveat is difficulty and graphics since I now have a high end machine. I always without a doubt found Rome Total War ridiculously easy unfortunately.

So reccommend me a good mod, whether it is RTW Vanilla or RTW BI.

I'm going to assume I need to patch this to the hilt though god knows how many there are.

Well it depends what you are after.

Huge battles? SPQR is your thing
Romans? RS
Historical accuracy and a whole new game? EB
Fantasy? FATW
Dark Fantasy? EoD

Personally and waiting for the patch for M2TW I returned to EB (using bi.exe) which I find more than satisfactory.

Game difficulty as I say, which makes me tempted to reload Darth mods latest patch, I'm not sure I tried the latest one.

EB was still a year away when I was playing, I gather it was worth the wait?

Worth the wait? It has maxed the units, added a ton of new features, trust me you will not recognise the game. Graphics-wise the map is awsome and there are some of the best looking units you will find...

I dare you to play it on VH/VH.

Is that with a BI install? Actually bugger it I'll actually go to the EB thread and stop being asked to be spoon fed.
