Stainless Steel with German Version - Need English textfiles plz

Hi all.

I've got the German version of both Medieval 2 + Kingdoms Addon.

Unfortunately, installing the Stainless Steel Addon results in a mixed-language game: most of the texts are in English now, but some texts (and all videos and sounds) are still German.

Would someone be so nice and do me the favor to upload the files which I would need to have the complete game in English?

I don't really need the videos and the soundfiles (as I have always disabled the speech), but it would be very nice to have at least all the texts ingame in the same language.

Can't you just reinstall the game in English?

Have you installed the 5.1 patch? That fixes the Deutsch text.

It fixes german text in SS but doesn't fix german text in vanilla files...

Sharing those files over the internet is probably illegal and if somebody helps you, you both can be out of this forums for good.

So you should just better buy english version (just like I did).

Hmm.. I can't imagine that it is illegal to share just the language text-files of the game. I mean, I legally bought the original Game + Addon - if I didn't, only those text-files wouldn't help me much.

But, OK, I'm no lawyer so I can't tell for sure if there is no stupid law that makes such things illegal...

So you should just better buy english version (just like I did).

I already thought about this, but I bought the game only 4 weeks ago and it cost me alot of money. I think, this won't be an option...

You can. You just have half of your game in german and half of it in english. English part is the one installed with SS, the rest will stay vanilla, like vanilla unit descriptions or game interface or advisor.

But it's the language installer uses to communicate with you. Not the language the game is installed in.

Well, at least my polish copy doesn't install english version of the game.

I have no trouble understanding english so I usually buy stuff in english. Most of translations are disasters anyway...

I hope I haven't just started another Harry Potter translation flame.

Complete disasters, especially the Russian versions of games in late 90's /early 2000's... I would be better to play a game in Japanese (even if I won't uderstand anything), than those stupid translations, especially when they came with glitches as a bonus. =)

It's not just M2TW, its many games here in Holland. BF2, for example can be installed in Dutch, German, some other languages and of course English.

I remember polish M2TW where they translated "races held" into "races denied"... That made me not play Egypt for months.

well i do nnot know how it is in germany but here in holland we need to put it bag in within 24 hours at most shops

Here in Germany you usually can return anything within 2 weeks.
Except of - and that's the problem - used software...

Perhaps I'll write a mail to the publisher of the game and ask if there is any chance to send them my original German version in exchange for an English one...

You can still play it with mixed languages. I've been doing this for a longer while and to be honest, it wasn't that bad.

Nobody reads all this description crap anyway. You want to know if a unit is worth something, you don't read how good it is, you put it in the field. You want to know if a faction is worth something, you don't read their description cause it's usually worthless ("HRE lacks pro armies", hahahahah!), you play them and see for yourself.

Same with the advisor. Is there anybody who doesn't turn her off as soon as possible?
