    Default Damn you Kong!

For making the plague appear in 1208 and having the Mongols appear shortly after. As the Templars I've finally broke the Egyptians (not too much of a challenge, but a challenge to do it right!) then I loose ~30,000 people. Just as the last cities are cleaning out the dead rats and bodies I have a horde of Mongols heading for Antioch. Thank God there are a few bridges in the way so I can buy some time.

Just after so many family members matured they were cut down. Templars like making baby girls!

Anyway, it's been a great experience playing the chivalrous Templars. I just wish my hard fought empire wasn't about to be split in half just after the ravages of the plague. Thankfully they bypassed Baghdad but I would have been much happier if they assaulted Mosul. Now the garrison there is going to have to make an end run around to Antioch. Thanks.

No danger no fun... I liked when the plauge, teutonic order, mongols, bankruptcy and polish betrayal all happened together in my Novgorod campaign (which I lost!). :-)

Stainless steel. There is no substitute. It is like some weird and very potent drug. I have played total War since Shogun was top dog, and yet, I am sucked into this, So, Samn ou Kong;-)
What is new in our time is the increased power of the authorities to enforce their own prejudices.

When the plague struck my early Templar campaign, right when money was going negative, my allies the Byzantiums stabbed me in the back. Beware of factions with fancy looking shields ! Now during the end game of my campaign (65 regions) the Pope asked for me to prove my loyalty by breaking my alliance with the Hungarians. The Hungarians are currently the number 2 superpower with awesome Royal Banderium units and they own Western and Central Europe. Luckily I should be able to win the long campaign without getting to the end of the 'break the alliance' Pope mission request.

You should be able to hire Khwazarian units in the Edessa region. The Mongols of course like to sit back and fire a devastating barrage of arrows on vh. You need something to go after them quickly that can survive the counter attack from their Heavy Lancers. I used Trebuchets on the Timurids, whom you will be dealing with later. The Timurids are Mongols with Elephants. Try fighting the Mongols on a bridge if you can. Sometimes they will sit on the other side where you can barrage them with artillery. You can whittle away at their forces that way. I once faced three Mongol armies sitting on the other side of a bridge. Was able to take out about 1 of their armies, but then they all decided to charge and well, could not stop 2 Mongol Armies. They broke through the bridge and did as Mongols do.

When does the Teutonic Order emerge? I received the event a while back, but haven't seen them yet. My campaign is at year 1197 or something, when does the Teutonic Order appear?

Maybe you just need to stop thinking about them like they were an annoyance. You should start thinking about them as a challenge and a mean to try if you've built a strong empire.

If that fails, assassinate their generals and autoresolve-kill their armies with mercenaries. :-)

    Hi Valdamar,

You were really shocking me with your thread title!

But I'm glad you have a hard time with the templars! This is why I added them.

Thanks, will stick around with that campaign to see if they appear or not (I already won it). The year in my campaign is 1200 something, so it can't be much longer.
