Want to play but lag

I have a really old PC, Athlon 2500 with a gig of rame and an old 128 card.

It plays unmodded fine with large battles in all situations. But your mod causes lots of lag. I have played RTR and love it, and that does not cause any where near as much lag.

But after missing archers and the old roman legions i thought i would give this ago, and it is an exelent mod.

But i really cant play due to lag, i think its something to do with the new texturing of the units. So is there a way of getting all the new stuff , getting rid of the old stupid units and getting the new awesome AI without the the new textures. Dont get me wrong i would much rather play with them than the blinding normal ones but i dont have a choice .

BTW i have not patched it yet, wil that make any BIG difference to the framerate?

Turn down some of the settings I pretty much have the same pc as you and found it unplayable on very high unit detail, but worked fine when you turned them down.

you are 100% right. i used to have the latest model of GeForce3 with 64MB and when i turned down the settings i could play without a problem.
