    Default Campaign Priorities

    Greetings,

As I was sitting around playing my campaign, I was wondering if anyone shared my same interest in making Arguin one of the first priorities in a campaign. I am playing as Denmark right now and although I know it is not quite "historically" correct, I do know that the city is a rebel city and a potential money maker...so why not. What are some priorites out there? Oh yeah, feel free to add any type of priority. It does not have to be limited to cities.

My priority is usually to take as many rebel cities as possible (but within a reasonable radius) and develop them all to stone level. So... early I usually am bankrupt with most of my cities running on low taxes and struggle to hold onto my territory (which is the best part)... but by midgame it all quickly takes off, I have plenty of cash and can go get some new land...

I am also crazy to have my borders as short as possible and I hate bordering too many factions at the same moment too. So it's a priority for me to shorten them as much as I can.

Well first I want to have order in such a settlement, a watchtower somewhere up to the moorish provinces is good to warn you from attacks.
Then I will focus on building farms and trade, the first to improve the growth, and then the second to be able to train more merchants there, enough to place one on each resource.

Depending on how agressive my neighbours are I might focus on barracks and armor as well.

My 1st priority, always my first, Is after I take over a settlement/castle, I put up watchtowers everywhere so it's not shaded out in the map. Maybe it's OCD or something but I hate that.
If I can't cheat, how will I get through school???

Maybe cities should uncover more FoW than they do now. Where do I mod it?

Great responses, thanks. I know that Africa is a big money maker, so I usually send some troops down there to get at least Argruin. The good thing about Timbuktu and Agruin is that you have so much space between you and the closest potential enemy. I too like to try to keep my borders tight, but something always drags me to the Dark Continent.
I figure that in the beginning one should try to build as many cash makers as possible; not only good money cities, but constructing the proper buildings as well.
I like the idea about lifting a bit more of the FoW when you take over a city.

    depends on the faction-

    england- knock out scotland ASAP

scotland- kick england off the isle ASAP

    germany- knock out milan ASAP

spain- push the moors out of spain ASAP

Kieven Rus- cut off novograd's area of expansion

turks- take constantinople/knock out the templars

templars- get a crusade declared on antioch

    egypt- take the holy land

true, it seems you can walk around the territory of the ai without you knowing until you reach the city, etc. Especially the big territories in africa.

well reputation goes down but does the ai ever response or know that ur taking a stroll with an army in its blank spot? The ai doesn't build that many watch towers either, not like me at least. So maybe if it did then it could control its territories better.

    What i do:
I build many towers in the beginning so to know whats going on in my and the ai's territory. They cost quite a few all put together but they are worth it cause i NEVER get a surprise attack from the ai.

Doesn't matter if you have a small army, it's better to have a big one that is where you need it than many small ones in every border oblivious to where the enemy might attack from. It not only streches ur armies but also ur income. Might be why the ai, especially hre since its got billions of borders, still don't stand a chance.
i normally have two armies. One to defend and one to attack. That way i never get beaten.

Isn't there a saying "defend everything and you defend nothing"

after all isn't that how they did it back then? they didn't have their army all over the place they had it in one or two places and moved it to defend before the enemy entered into their territory.

i recommend the ai to build more watchtowers (way more) so it can defend its self without having its armies expanded everywhere. That way the ai will be tougher to beat, way tougher. or at least give every city more FOW so you don't have to waste so much money on watch towers.

    just a thought

I think AI is playing with toggle_fow so it does not matter for them if you sneak around or not. They see you anyway.
