what skins arent you happy about?

This might be a good way for King Kong to see what people would want changed about skins.

I am personly not too happy about heather shields often being colored a bit fake, as if the shields are of plastic instead of wood. the colors are too bright, it just doesnt look like paint. The shields of light swordsmen of the HRE are a good example of it.

Late game units not having reskins bugs me a bit as well, they just dont match with the earlier troops of a faction.

Templars in half plate seem to have too bright red and white colors, this might need to be tweaked a bit to fit with the shield and horse.

I personly strongly dislike the danish reskin, the previous reskin I liked a lot better. The yellow and blue are pretty much the original textures, just in another color.

Norway and Ireland seem to need a reskin as well, they still use the vanilla textures.

Some light swordsmen units seem to wear two helmets.

well thats all I can think of for now, anyone else unhappy about some skin?

Denmark: Sorry, but I really don't like the new skins over the old ones. There's just way too much bright yellow and blue. I guess they'd be okay if the brightness was toned down severely. Just way too bright.
Suggestion: the Ornamentum skins by Danova, though too bright themselves, seem worthwhile to work with. And his banners seem great.http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=135397

Teutonic Order: Again, the bright whites. How does a medieval army keep their garments so perfectly white and clean?
Suggestion: Rex Cobalt's Ordo Teutonicus Texture set is just phenomenal. It's just so much more realistic. Should definately be incorporated into SS.

From the Moors thread, I shall add Urban Militia, Granadine Lancers, and Christian Guard, fully upgraded, they all have the exact same skin.

Fully upgraded Islamic armor. Save for the really cool Qapukulu and Dismounted Hasham upgrades, the one single upgrade used for Arab Cavalry, Naffatun, Ottoman Infantry, and others seem really cookie-cutter and, after a while, ugly. Not the kind that grows on me, to be honest.

The Islamic factions have good skins already, I think. Not upgraded, they are pretty varied and have lots of character to them. But once the armor upgrades start rolling in they loose their uniqueness and just resemble each other too much save for the odd special unit. I suggest not using that same mail-partial-plate upgrade armor so much and either eschew the upgrade altogether, or share the load with other Middle Eastern armor upgrades.


I'm also not a big fan of the Chivalric knights skin and colors, and I sort of feel the Vanilla Dismounted English/Noble/Portuguese knights skin was the coolest knight skin around.



The Templar Guard's golden armor doesn't really hit it off for me, although the unit is fantastic in its own right. Some of the mix color skins for the TG look great that utilize both white/silver and gold. But the more fully golden ones make me think of bronzed statues rather than elite warriors sometimes.

Now, the Hospitallers with their plate armor upgrade... now there's a unit with some mad style. Very sleek.

Im not really a fan of the colours used on the English knights horse barding. They all seem to be variants on the cross of St George. No two knights from that period looked the same. Heraldy was personal rather than Nationalistic.

Considering the knights surcoats, horses and such I sometimes think less is more. Sometimes theres too much symbols. Its their fighting gear after all. I am sure they wont put on their finest clothes for that.

hungarian shields scream captain america.. they really need a new feel to them. yeah i agree with some of the coloring, seems like a little rush went on to make a unique colorset for new factions

I think that a lot of wooden round shields and the longer shields of soldiers and militia shouldnt have paint on them. I believe this wasnt common for them, well it was with the Danes and Norwegians but not the rest of europe I believe.

I think the skins for the western factions generally look a bit garish and overly bright, particularly the Kingdom of England. Having said that, they're still far better than the vanilla skins.

I would like it if more heather shields where like those of Sicily. Not exactly the same but of similar designs.
