    Default Roma Surrectum 1.5 -- Feedback Thread, Questions, Suggestions and Discussion

    If you're playing 1.5, post any feedback you have in this thread.

    What you like, what you don't like, how it could be improved, map glitches, anything you find that we can use to improve the mod. And remember that screenshots can be a huge help.

    RS1.5 included a great number of changes over 1.1, so there's no doubt a patch will be required to fix some things; I've already caught a few terrain glitches that will be fixed, and somehow the plasma jetpack Armenian unit didn't get in either...

    So post away!

    The new RS is insane. I love the terrain and how detailed things are. The battle system is great and so are the economics

    I'm playing Macedon thru vanilla RTW patched to 1.5 and installed per dvk901 instructions.
    Retraining units does not seem to lag anymore.
    Have not seen aggressive behaviour by Free People as of yet.
    Army of Epieros blindsided me even after I searched with a spy. Of course that was more fun.
    Have noticed that some unit cards are blank when recruiting but this may be a fix for 2.0. Let me know if you need a list.

    Question though 1) Region boundaries are turned off on the map can I turn them on? 2) If I screen shot in-game does it save that to a tga file and if so which one?

    It's great (1.5) but the City Hoplite training is a bit wirde... In Syracuse (while playing syracuse) you can only make the Cyprian Hoplites and in Numidia (can't remeber the name of the city...) I could make Sicilian Hoplites (Playing as Carthage).. Belive there are more "City Hoplite" problems other places to

    I've found that the Free People are a much bigger problem when you play on H campaign difficulty. So if at all possible, play your campaign on H/H or H/VH.

    You can turn region boundaries on by looking in the IMPORTANT_STUFF folder, look in 'Region_borders_visible' and copy that file into the 'data' directory.

    I'm not sure where the tga's are saved to -- I'd just download FRAPS and use that instead.

    The data folder is in your main Rome:TW folder.

    Just paste it into data, you'll have to overwrite the existing file (so don't 'cut' the file from IMPORTANT_STUFF, but rather copy it. The 'IMPORTANT_STUFF' files are your backups.)

    The blank unit cards often show up in mods, it usually goes away after you play awhile. For some reason the engine has trouble 'seeing' them or something. Let us know if it persists, or if it only happens to certain units.

    Found more problem with training (Geate, all region i'v seen) .... the only infanteri i can make the highest (no units at all with the lower level Baracks exept Light Spears and General) is Eleisian Hoplites (or somthing) I was playing the Geate ... I want Falanks men!

    More Traing problems... This time with the Samaritans none of the fun factions work!

    in my roman campaign when i build the decrease pop buildings it makes the population go up instead of going down

    other wise it seems to be a GREAT new patch for the best mod ever!

    oh and i like how you guys rebalanced out the unite stats

    It's really good. Now get 2.0 out allready Naw , just kidding.
    But one thing I've noticed , is now that I *can* play all factions (With the sprites) I still want to play as Rome . All the new features are great , and the map simply rapes M2:TW with a sandpaper condom. No pun intended.

    Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

    Good patch and Christmas present.
    I like the style of this mod, based in epic and quick big battles.

    I like these points:

    - Map of main campaign
    - Historical emulation of human Roma faction. Roma only can progress at the beginning to south, againts epirots and later Sicily. I like very much seeing mamertins romans rebelion in Messana (it is historical) after syracusians took it. This event was real trigger of first punic war.
    - High taxations of cities which produces factions can recruit big armies (I don´t see this in other mods).
    - Good speed in battlefield, a lot of different clouds
    - Autorecruitment of governors
    - More cities in Sicily in this mod (longer campaing in this place)

    I don´t like:

    - It is possible recruitment a lot of mercenaries outside their origin (gauls en Sicily, greek in nothern Italy, etc). I would prefer more realism in this question
    -Maybe it should be more powerful iberian faction, or better, two iberian factions: Celts o celtiberians, and iberians.
    -A lot of units are from original Rome (old british warriors, german warriors, etc). It would perfect if there were more different and historical units.
    -Some wrong roman speeches: (it is listened britains ( against free people troops), etc). It is possible to erase these references in text archives.

    Can you be more specific? I'm playing a Getae campaign and haven't noticed any recruitment problems; the falxmen are there (and ready to chop up Romans...)

    As for hoplite recruitment I think there might be some errors there to fix -- dvk has done a huge amount of work on the AOR system, so some final tweaking might be needed.

    Well technically it is historical -- mercenaries companies tended to get around. Egypt didn't recruit Celts by sending an army into Galatia, but rather by having the Galatian mercs come to Egypt...

    Maybe it should be more powerful iberian faction, or better, two iberian factions: Celts o celtiberians, and iberians.
    The Iberians do very well in tests, so I don't think we can make them more powerful without unbalancing the mod. They have a great roster with some very versatile units...

    A lot of units are from original Rome (old british warriors, german warriors, etc). It would perfect if there were more different and historical units.
    This will be fixed with RS2.0 -- there will be hundreds of new units. 1.5 is still based on the original Roma Surrectum, which used a lot of old units because even a man of tone's talents can only skin the old fashioned way -- one unit at a time...

    So think of 1.5 as a hint of what's coming...

    I can recruit Legio XI Clavdia Pia VI Fidelis VI, and Legio III Cyrenaica, in Mediolanum and Tarentum. Is that the intent, or is my install messed up? Love the update and great job on the map.

    You're install is fine, it's the recruitment lines for those two that are wrong. I will fix them first chance I get.

    DVK wanted to release the sprites with a couple of fixes but said it would be savegame compatible. If it won't be, just don't install it until your campaign is finished.
