I was just wondering if your going to make the next version for both kingdoms and regular, or at least something with the new factions for regular medieval 2.

"July 14, 2008: I think this is a case where Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae are fundamentally sound. They're not in danger of going under. They're not the best investment these days from a long term standpoint going back. I think they are in good shape going forward. They're in the housing market. I do think their prospects going forward are very solid."

This is why i bought Kingdoms, incidentally.
Yesterday started the internal beta testing of the new version![]()
Hi,
I'm waiting this new version since so long time...
loet66
Woud you mind giving a short overview (nothing big) as to what we might expect in the next version?
Thank you.
Sure. Have an beta-test auto-run campaign going in windowed mode right now, so have the time
5 New Factions
-Norway
-Aragon
-The Great Seljuk Empire (so we have two Turk factions now)
-Cilician Armenia
-Kingdom of Georgia
Over 50 new units
-Georgia, Armenia and the two Turk factions receive the most work with over 45 all new units or new models for old units (e.g. Turkish Horse Archers look Turkic not blandly Middle Eastern)
-New Almughavars and Aragonese Knights
-New Kypchak units
-More new units
New Map
-60% larger than the old map
-Extensions to the East (just past the Caspian Sea) and North (includes Bergen, Norway)
-No more Americas
New Skins
-DisgruntledGoat's Russian textures
-New textures for the other Russian faction faction - Novgorod
-Aspects of the ORNAMENTUM MOD
Revamped AOR SYSTEM
-Completely revamped the AOR system to include new units and to have a more logical unit recruitment system (i.e. no super Regional units at the first level anymore. Higher tier regional troops available in higher tiered barracks).
Revamped Unit Stats and Costs
-Units will be more expensive and limited in number, so no more losing an army and simply recruiting a replacement stack in a turn or two.
NEW Custom Battle Maps
-Two done so far (Cilicia and the Caucusus). More to come!
So yeah, most of the work is graphical, as you can see. It's taken so long, because I've never modelled or skinned before (I'm a lowly attorney) and kind of learned through trial and error along the way. And I've been pretty much going it alone. You can imagine how long it takes one dude with no experience to make literally 50 new units (with armour upgrades skins for some).
It's been fun though. And we're getting close. The new factions in Anatolia add a whole new dimension to game-play. Georgia and Armenia have been surviving in test-runs so far. Not taking a lot of territories but hanging tough! Which is good.
Beta-testers have played auto-runs until the 1300s and are reporting no CTDs. So hopefully this'll be ready by the end of the month! Knock on wood!
Cheers! Thanks for the interest!

Wow! This looks awesome matey. I look forward to it with keen anticipation and as much dignity as I can muster (he says jumping up and down while making silly whooping noises).![]()
Thanks Socal, greatly appreciated
I think its very impressive what youve managed to create pretty much on your own - most teams of modders dont even come close IMO.
Really looking forward to the next version (will probably have to buy Kingdoms for it)
