    Default Persian Voicemod

Do you think of making a Persian Voicemod?
'Cause it would be very cool

We have all the commands sorted out; we just need the time to record it.

On the same note, how is the Punic language doing?

One of the guys on the team seems to have a few audio tricks up his sleeve to compensate for poor acoustics. As soon as I shake this cough we'll run some tests. If things sound good we'll record the whole mod.

There was a guy I knew who had some audio equipment and I was planning to work with him, but he turned out to be a complete bum so the hell with him. Keep your fingers crossed though.

Is there also a plan to make speeches in the old Languages?

    Yes, there is.

Sounds good; I already feel really immersed with the Romans, can't wait to hear orders and commands given in authentic ancient Persian.

The Persian voicemod is finished. There are still things to be added to it though, but it is good to go.

So is the Q-Celtic (for Celtiberia)

    Proto-Germanic is 50% done recording..

I just implemented all of this. You should be able to hear them in the next release of EB. Because I'm hearing them in game right now.

Punic only depends on abou now.. abou has the perfect pronunciation and voice acting down. So come on abou, make some time from your biochemistry book and we can wrap this up before breakfast. ;D

How about a preview, just one sample of each language ?

You will all find them in the next release. But there is still a problem with the voicemods:

As soon as a family member is attached to a unit (specifically the General's bodyguard units), the voice_type that I have set in the export_descr_unit.txt file is OVERRIDDEN and defaults to General_1. I'm using the voice_type to differentiate voices you see, but this seems like a hardcoded restriction.
You don't catch this problem if you just play a custom battle with a general's bodyguard - because that unit is not a true general. But when a family member is attached to that unit, then it's very different.

What this results in is that Q-celtic units (Goidilics, Celt-Iberians) will currently speak Q-Celtic only as separate units. When the general speaks however, you will hear Gallic. This is worse with the Sweboz, as they too will speak Proto-german up until the point that you hear the general who speak Gallic. Because all these factions share the "barbarian" culture, and there can be only one "General_1" in each voice-culture.. in this case, it happens to be Gallic.

Also, a lot of factions are currently sharing the Pahlava voicemod, who will eventually not speak it at all. Pontos is currently in the "Eastern" culture group, and therefore the Generals of Pontos will speak Pahlava, while the individual troops may speak Greek (those that are greek).

But this shouldn't bother us in EB2 under the aegis of the M2TW engine, so our work has certainly not been in vain. We'll just accept it as it is right now, and look forward to moving on.

Yes, I think so. Foot has stated a keen interest of eventually doing so. But it depends entirely on Armenians who may wish to aid us. Pahlava suits me very well as a placeholder for Hayasdan, so it's no priority for me. Punic, and some Ossetic would be much more interesting at this point. Of course the Punic has been translated for a long time now, but with Ossetic (Iron) even the translation eludes us.

Thankfully in EB2, there will be no limit to how many voicemods we can have, as they will be defined on a faction-per-faction basis, not by culture.

Well Pahlava would be more suited for Ossetic. They are both Iranian Languages. Armenian is a diffrent branch of the Indo-European language group. I think Artavazd has been working with foot on the Armenian voice mod.

Hey I have question, why is it that when I recruit an Italian general as Carthage he gives commands in Greek? Shouldn't it be Latin?

I think it would add a lot of variety if mercenary generals had culture themes and languages relating to where they were recruited from IE Greek generals speaking Greek with Hellenic themes, Italian generals speaking Latin with roman theme, Gaelic generals speaking Gallic with barbarian themes ect.

I know its possible because if my army captain is a AOR the commands for the army are from his culture, just not the music.

You just "know" it's possible? A priori? Well, I can tell you this is the hardcoded problem I mentioned earlier in this thread. Thankfully this won't trouble us in the M2TW engine.

well I mean possible in theory, (an equite captain makes the army speak in Latin) I am glad its changeable in M2TW that will be a nice touch I think.

plus it would be nice if I am tried of hearing Greek to buy a mercenary and get a new theme, I might actually be able to finish a long campaign now.

But a general is not a captain. Whenever you put a general in an army, that general defaults to General_1 voice_type.. despite what I set the unit's voicetype to be in EDU

so you can't use the same principle to get the army speaking the language of that specific general?
