Default How many of you destroy Qarthadast's Monuments

At the beginning of all my Qarthadast games I go through and destroy every useless Monument and trade port that is for the Barbarians only and rape a massive profit enabling me to get way ahead on building my support structure for my future conquest armies.

How many of you guys do the same.

as a great lover of history one thing that realy strikes me about EB is the fabulous amount of monuments (capitol in rome, acropolis in athens, the harbor of carthage, etc...) and that EVERYWHERE from scotland to xiyu. i admit i have - shame - in a couple of occasions destroyed some...

well i generally refrain from such actions cuz i love them to much. either their worth not much (like standing stones) or their worth hell of a lot and give bonusses or not. its only in the latter case that i could then decide to destroy them. and i only do it when i know i wont be coming back so lets say i'm the aedui and my empire is stretching across southern italy i might as well send a fleet to the ptolie lands and sack their cities doubling profits by destroying the holy temple in jerusalem. i wont be back there anyway. but when launching raids with for example other succesors i NEVER destroy the monuments.

only once did i defy a holy place of history and that was as the parthians when in dire need for more money, i then sacked the temple of anahita which sadly has no bonusses (EB team give it some!) cuz they earn money so slow ... MY GOD I'M A MONSTER

I only destroy monuments for role-playing motivations, because I reason that such monuments had immense symbolic value, and their destruction would cause a public outrage. Imagine what would happen if the American president decided to sell the Statue of Liberty because he needed to finance the war in Iraq. So for me, the only valid reason to destroy something is because it symbolizes resistance against my faction, like for example the Collosus of Rhodos when I am playing Macedon. The Tomb of Alexander is off course a special case.

I try never to destroy any unique monuments but I'm usually sorely tempted at the beginning of a Karthago campaign. There are unique buildings giving no benefit worth around 15000 (I think) if destroyed. I've always held firm but thats a lot of money in the first turn, luckily enough Karthago has enough money to build something in every city from turn one.

I trashed Van as the Sarmatians. also, Persepolis. hehe, i dont think 5% happiness is worth not having 10000-15000 mnai. can always hire men to make a garrison happiness bonus anyway.
