    Default mercenaries

    i dont know if there are other people here that noticed some of the mercenaries can be retrained to full unit size. So i whas wondring if this is a bug ore did kk intentionalie add this option?

    Nope. It's on purpose.

    You can retrain them in regions where they are available. So instead of taking another unit, you just take lacking soldiers to the current one. Very realistic.

    I noticed it a couple times, I like it. Finally my 3 gold chevron mercs (which for some reason always have higher exp than my core troops) will be able to maintain themselves.

    Sadly you still can't retrain those mercs which come from crusading and jihading...

    yups noticed that. o well i like the retraining of merc troops some of them kick ass and give my armie a new look

    I wonder where one could check hard numbers on them. For example, how many turns it takes for them to show up again after they are recruited.

    the variaty of merc units is to low but in my campains i allways get lots of merc to buy at least 3 sorts of merc with a 3 of each

    Some seem to replenish very slowly.

    I did edit the file for the vanilla game quite some time ago to increase the replenishment a lot, and I also made all mercenaries available from the beginning to the end.

    Took some time though so I never felt like redoing it.

    replenish very slowly? not all units can be retraint i think the other s just need one turn to be retrained

    By "replenish" he meant "show up again in the recruitment pool" not "regeneration".

    And yeah, fixing mercs is not really worth it. Especially that AI hates to use them for some reason.

    Strange, but I recall I was able to retrain unhorsed knights (which in my op are 'crusade' units) in Antioch...

    think the unhored knights is the same story as saracen merc only retrainabel in cairo i believe

    the replensh part hmmm recruted some merc in one of my provinces and could recruit them the next turn again so :s think it depends on some other stuff?

    It depends on year (some mercenaries are available only later on, like Khwarizmian cavalry), their type (there are more slav levies than galloglaich) and the region you're recruiting in (Spain, France, Germany, Italy, Balkans...).

    SS already adds a lot of them... And there's also a limit to the number of units in game, so maybe let's add more units to factions instead?
