Your treading on my territory here, Pope.
According to the Theory of War, which teaches that the best way to avoid the inconvenience of war is to pursue it away from your own country, it is more sensible for us to fight our notorious enemy in his own realm, with the joint power of our allies, than it is to wait for him at our own doors.
- King Edward III, 1339
I avoided watching the repeats for ages ,fearing they would not have stood the test of time but I agree with Popey . They really do seem relevent today ,perhaps more so in this time of ultimate spin.
Good call Pope

I think one of our prime ministers made it compulsory to watch this for his cabinet members.
That rules Thatcher out then. Although I always wondered about 'her'. Not if she was a man but whether she was actually human.
Yes, Minister was superbly written, very intelligent & also exhibits an extremely dry sense of humour. In short the type of program that if the BBC were offered it now would turn down in favour of 'Strictly Cum Cooking'.

This clip is the defining Yes Minister joke. It's so well thought out and executed (tbh only the British could actually make something of this caliber). I say "could" as we simply aren't making anything to this standard anymore. I have been watching some Morecambe and Wise today and it makes me realise that we already have reached the high water mark of comedy already.
What I find with Yes Minister is that the older you get the more sense it makes and so as you mature so does the programme. I might have to get a box set DVD sometime soon.
I watch it in A level Politics its pretty fun
