Default Whats going on with my Royal family

So I have recently started a game as the spanish. I am about 30 or so turns into it. When I started I had 3 generals. The king, his son the prince and some other guy Vassco or something. Now, Vassco doesn't appear on my family tree or anything, which is the first thing that seems unusual to me. I don't know if that is just how spain is.

Anyway, when my original faction leader died, his title went to the faction heir, and the faction heir's title went to some Benedito character. I do not have any Benedito generals on my map or my family tree. I only have 3 Generals right now. The King, Vassco, and a Venetian traitor whom I stole with a princess. Who the hell is going to be king? This doesnt make sense to me. I am doing really well too so I hope this doesn't mess up my game too bad.

Is this a bug or a glitch or something? or is it just the Spaniards.

Med2 knows 2 types of Named (military) chars. Familiy Members (king, his sons, adopted ones, or stolen ones) and generals (who are basically raised from your countries nobles as military commanders) who basically have no legal right for the throne. (think of them as employees of the royal family)

    Vassco is a general.
Benedito is probably the stolen venice general and as you have only 3 family members (King, Heir und him) he steps up one level to heir, as your heir gets king with his fathers death.

Kids (and adoptions) of your family members go into your family tree. Generals may be adopted into the family, but until then they stay out of the family tree, though they are named characters.

so everything is alright. Get some more provinces and your familymembers (if married) will start to get kids who as soon as they are 16 become princesses or named characters who can lead an army...

Yea I realized the The Venetian guy is the new faction heir. He is only 14 years younger than my king though so his reign won't be too long.

Every other faction I have played with so far (Venice, Milan, Sicily, Poland, Russia, Moors) has had every general on the map in my family tree to start so I was a little unsure. Im kinda pissed that I don't get to see the family tree for everybody, but oh well.

Another thing that I remeber that has happened that I thought was weird was after a battle I had with Vassco, who was already a general, i got the man of the hour thing for him. I accepted but he still wasn't on the tree. Im guessing that must be a glitch.

    Thanks for the help.

Ok so now things have gotten even more messed up.

My Venetian traitor Prince was killed on the crusades. I won the battle he was killed in and I was prompted with a 'man of the hour' thing after the battle. I accepted it and I got a new general named Jesus, who did not appear on the family tree.

The faction heir title after that battle went to Vassco, but he was 55 years old. I was hoping that my current king's son would come of age before Vassco died so he would be the next heir and the Royal family would be somewhat normal again, but the bastard died when he was 60 and the heir title went to Jesus.

Eventually my king died and Jesus was the new king. This is were things get messed up. I looked at my family tree and it was completely different. It had only 2 characters on it. They were both venetian characters, one was the dodge or whatever and the other was his wife. Both were dead. So now my family tree is useless.

Is there any way I can fix this? I would really appreiate it. I'm having a great game with all high chivalry and piety characters and the family tree would be nice. Thanks

if it is really bugged you can only start a new camapaign I think.

are you using mods or a noCDcrack? if you do the first, I recommend to reinstall the mod, if you do the second...

I do not know about the family tree, but if your royal family is lacking some manpower, you can get "Man of the hour", if your army with a general / captain (army has to have one unit of cavalry) has fought well. The man of the hour will join your faction as a general, and will also join your royal family. So that is why the Jesus became the new king.

Your family tree could also be that the venetian guys kids were showing there, and you could see your spanish members if you scrolled it to the right or left. But if it was a "Doge" then it could be bugged, as only venice can have doges in their tree, like you have kings.

here is what I am dealing with right now. If there is no way to fix this I think I am going to kill Jesus and see what happens when a true royal family who is heir now becomes king.

I'm new to Medieval 2, but in Medieval 1 other factions could lay claim to territory through marriage when a monarch died. Perhaps this is what you have here. When the Spanish king died his throne passed to the Venetian that married his daughter (who were childless) making the Doge the new heir. Now that the Doge is dead Spain has no heirs.

Wait a second... Doge Domenico died in 1126 and the current year is 1250... I got nothing...

Thats an unfixable glitch that happens when a non-bloodline family member becomes king. The only thing you can do is start a new campaign or deal with it.

And man of the hour happens when your general to settlement ratio is 1:2 or less, and you are the victor regardless of weather it is a close or heroic victory, or if the army has a unit of calvary in it.

Well I sent King Jesus into a nearly impossible battle with portugal and he fought valiantly to the end, killing the enemy army's general.

After he died prince Val became king (who is from the original king's bloodline) and the family tree went back to normal. Weird how that happened.
