Makes me want to see more artwork, be it animated or otherwise, of aspects of history. It was an interesting view though dated and I could not understand the language. I liked to see things visualized from the Ottoman-side. Cool stuff ZorboZ

funny pictures, great construction of the city(however it doesn'l look desolate like it normally did in 1453),but i'm sure, that if the greeks made a same kind of movie, that it would look much different. The emperor and other people at the byzantine court look like cunning stupid selfish and rich people. They were cunning, but especially not rich, stupid and they didn't underestimated the power of the turks, like in the movie.i think this movie is meant to learn some kind of nationalistic feelings to young people. Here, the byzantines are certainly the bad guys, and the turkish the good guys.
I've red a book about the fall of constantinople, and it shows us the siege of both sides of the wall. The siege wasn't that easy for the turkish, they even almost retreated at an unfortune moment.the last emperor wasn't that fat and stupid and dumb,he was more of a heroic person who tried to defend the city to his very end,and he did.

This is why i don't like to see such propaganda and nationalistic movies. They are never historically correct, underlining the bravery, strengh and all the good things of their country, and showing the oposite of their enemy.

I'm not saying this because i'm a "byzantine-fan", the turks did great things to constantinople after it's capture (the ottomans rebuilded the city and erected beautiful buildings),but these propaganda movies aren't realy right and that's what i'm trying to say.

    With respect

When i was a kid i was watching Voltran, He-Man and Clementine (Awesome French Cartoon) but never seen this cartoon.

Besides joking i always hated movies and cartoons which makes the "other one" dirty, pesky and coward. Reality works different by the way. Byzantine and Italian mercenaries fought extremely brave till the end and last emperor of Romans died valiantly.

It also portrays Ottoman army as Turban headed sword & buckler soldiers. Ottoman army for her age most professional, well armed and armored (not only turbans) and disciplined example of late medieval age. Far from reality, lack of historic details, crapy representation of siege and such... Bah! Gimme my Zweihander! Even for the kiddies history is a serious thing to show and should be portrayed as true and detailed as can be.

By the way, Thanks for the contribution dear Zorboz and please do not offend about my post. I can't stand against half fundementalist and brainless nationalist propaganda. Because as i wrote it before it's a disgrace for both sides (Byz & Otto ) in reality.

I hope you do not misunderstand my point

On that topic, I've always found the material which treats both sides as equals to be far more interesting and epic than when it's good vs evil. However, I am in most anything a fan of the grey vs the good and evil - I loo

One of my favorite authors is an old-timey one, Harold Lamb. He wrote pulp historical fiction around the turn of the 19th to 20th century, a contemporary in style and quality to Lovecraft or Robert E Howard (Conan). When you read his books on the Crusades, it wasn't clear if you were reading fiction or nonfiction. He told history but told it as a story, feeling true to life but as riveting as a novel. Just as appealing however was how for as much bias as a Westerner of the past might have, he was pretty positive in his depiction of the Muslims. Whether or not what I recall was based on fiction or reality, there were many cases of what seemed to be actual accounts showing some level of respect to the Saracens. I remember one Latin account saying basically that the Turks are valiant and courageous second only to the Franks/Normans, and if they were Christian would be equals if not superior. There was also the natural lionizing of Saladin, but I believe he also approached Baybars rather well.

I know from elsewhere that this is not out of the question, having Westerners respect their Muslim foe: In an Osprey book on the Crusader Knights of the later period (1180 onto the fall of Acre), it comments on the growing respect (However grudging) of their Muslim foes and the growing dislike of the Byzantines (Whom they felt to be scheming and untrustworthy).

What I am trying to get at is that I agree with little Legionary, and feel that depictions whatever they may be of battles where both foes are painted (assuming history allows for the authenticity of this) in a respectful light are far more interesting than stereotyped good vs evil. I don't mind these videos as much because for once it's from the view of the side typically stereotyped. When I posted a screenshot of the Omani AAR on another website, I remember someone saying they were glad to see the Muslims being depicted as interesting and unique as they were, when so often all they get is the fat round Sultan, Harems, big puffy pants with no shirt and scimitars. What was funny was seeing that stereotypical Ottoman sultan being portly, round, and ugly being a Byzantine Emperor this time.

The sad thing is I don't feel a movie of the siege should ever be made, because I do not think there is a director in the world who would be able to approach this fairly. I'd joke that the day a fair and respectful depiction of the siege is done, the Byzantine Romans and Ottomans will rise from the grave, and united come to conquer the world as Roman and Turk felt themselves destined to do.

That's so true mate so bad (probably worst on chart ) and so beatiful. I think if Lucas has been seen this movie he'd probably deeply depressed and perhaps commit suicide after a desperate trauma

well i dont agree with the women in the video when she says "the ottomans are known for the culutral beliefs of other and allow them to live peacefully within their rule" i think thats terribly false, greeks and armenians were savagly killed pillaged and raped, by the seljuc turks, thus they dont look as asian as they did when they migrated to the area from asia, and im not even considering the armenian genocide, or the greek massacres on the greek islands by the ottomans, if you ask others AND NOT TURKS, they would tell you that the turks were not civilized invaders, please dont take this offensively who ever is a turk, but my great grandfather and great grand mother were brutally killed trying to defend their family from ottoman turks! and ive heard stories about turks during seljuc rule!
