Dern Says "Jurassic Park IV" Is On

Laura Dern confirmed that she has been approached for "Jurassic Park IV," the secretly developing sequel. "I'm told it's happening and I'm told that they're calling me," Dern revealed. "I'm told Ellie Sattler is involved in it."

She all but name dropped executive producer Steven Spielberg. "A certain fella is the one that called me and It's hard to say no to him because he's always got something totally genius up his sleeve so we'll see what they have in mind, but I don't know anything about it at this point."

"JPIV" may call on Dern's services soon, as they intend to release next year. "I think within the year. They want to release it in '08 so maybe, I don't know."

Dern did not know which of her original Jurassic buddies would also be asked back. "Actually, I just oddly talked to Sam Neill but we didn't speak about that. It's always an awkward thing because sometimes one person's in it and another person isn't and who knows who's going to do it or not do it so it's the unspoken dinosaur date. We'll see."

The dinos in the King Kong really surpassed anything I have seen in the previous JP movies.


I like all the JP movies, I hope this time they gonna use real dinosaurs CG just won't cut it for me anymore....

What can they do that already hasn't been done?

My guess:

The dinosaurs get super-intelligent and start infiltrating american society. A velociraptor gets made vice-president and nobody notices. T-rex's take over the army, plesiosaurs the navy and pterosaurs the air force. Before people know it, the President is assassinated by a tricerotops and America must take up arms against the terrible lizards. I'd call it Jurassic Park: The Apocalypse.

Weren't Jurassic Park 2 and 3 sufficiently weak and vacuous? Do we really have to be blanded to death yet again? Let it lie, for God's sake. Come up with new ideas instead of reprocessing old ones like dipping your hands into the toilet bowl to play with your own **** after you've taken care of business.

Give us a better idea to show dinosaurs on screen, and make them SCARY?

And HA, you had to be kidding. Those dinos in KK, were the worst CGI I've ever seen. Horribly unrealistic.

The films have been getting progressivly worse since the first one and the funny thing is that the first had by far the best dinos watching that film it did not feel like they were pasted in they had precsense.

Just pm me if they are gonna made another a sequel to the prequel, or another Indiana Jones................

This is depressing.... a waste of money. JP3 tarnished the JP name (JP2 wasn't any good IMO but it wasn't 150% crap like the third one).

And it makes Spielberg look bad cause he's associated with a crappy movie.

Yea but everybody has a weakness for Jurassic Park regardless of they want to admit it or not.

Admit it...they got the perfect actors for the main characters in that series. And that's half of it in the bag right there.

uugghhh I got zero hope for this one.

First one was good, second was ok, third was just terrible.
I fear the next step.

I have to admit. Despite how bad I felt the third one was, I can't help but feel excited about this one.

I kinda liked the III one. I mean sure I was like 12 when it came out, and loved it then, but I just don't see what was so terrible bout it, other than it seemed too.. rushed. Like the second they touch down on Isla Sorna, a dino attacks thier asses.

The key to success in this series is imo, suspense. Focus on making a suspenseful horror movie, as opposed to an action film.

The raptors need to be redone too.

They need to get a proper friggin story line written in this time. The major success of the first next to the awesome portrayal of dinosaurs was that it actually had a very strong plot line. The second wasn't too bad in the respect that it explored (albeit fairly lukewarmly) the abuse corporations would give such a scientific opportunity. The third really was just an excuse for a dinosaur movie. 4 should focus on actually dealing with the problem with leaving an island crawling with dinosaurs

I'd call it "The Jurassic Candidate."
