Thats a hard question to answer really. I mean if you were to ally with all your neighbors at the start like I do, it becomes a moderately slow game. However, I think if you wouldn't do that, you would be in constant warfare. But to answer your question, I think it would have to be Milan. Your surrounded by the HRE, Venice, France, and you will soon be in competition with Sicily and the Papal States, and farther off you could face the Spanish and Moors. Fortunately I was playing a short campaign, so it didn't take much to get all the requirements and get out of that hell hole.![]()
I speak Latin to God, English to my friends, French to girls, German to my enemies, and Japanese to my PS2.

True this be a hard question, Playing as the english you may find yourself doing some fast expansion during the early period of your campaign but it slows after that.

Egypt. No enemies nearby for the first 100 turns. At least if you don't expand you won't see much action on the campaign map.
Russia. Only 1 settlement to command at first and a very isolated starting position.
Central european factions go very slow for me, my laptop is struggling to display all those forests and mountains I guess. I'm playing as the Turks now and the turns go pretty fast (both in loading and actual playtime), I spend a lot of time building up economy first.
