RTR 6 mod of RTW vanilla, vista os, I need help bad

So, I have a new laptop with Vista, installed my old rtw 1.0 and wanted to have rtr like i did on my pc. installed the 1.2 patch, installed rtr 6.0, it goes to the creative assemble screen and then closes...I've uninstalled and reinstalled several times. I've read all the forum info on vista but I don't know how to solve my problem. please, if anybody knows what I need to do?

I've not used Vista but the first step is to ensure that you have the -show_err switch on the shortcut. This will pick up any errors that are trapped by the program.

The target for the shortcut I use for RTR 6 Gold is;

"C:\Program Files\Activision\RTR 6 Gold\RomeTW.exe" -show_err -battle_editor -movie_cam


There is also the -nm (no movie) switch
-battle_editor allows you to create battlefields
-movie_cam allows you to "record" hi-res replays of custom battles.

Thanks...i figured out what I was doing wrong...the place I was installing the 1.2 patch from wasn't installing fully. The rtr site needs to update the 1.2 patch link. that screwed me up. I ended up loading off another site, then doing rtr gold and it's working great. thanks a lot though for the help.

There is no problem with Vista I have noticed. I have had it for a few months and have had about two dozen different mods on here and never a single problem. Usually it is a problem with the install location like the problem you had.
