    Default Crusade? Against me??

I suppose having the highest "Pope love" of all the Catholic faction still doesn't insulate a faction from having a crusade called against it.

The pope called for rebel held Tunis to be "smitten" and so I smote it in the name of the Milanese. Seven turns later the pope calls a crusade against ME, the new owner of Tunis! Here I am a "Catholic" in excellent standing, obviously not excommunicated, but here comes everyone laying on for Tunis.

Bloody crazy game, I tell you! I think I'll crush him and leave him to wander the lands homeless...

Are you sure that it wasn't a jihad that was called, not a crusade? :hmmm:

I've seen many strange things happen in this game, but never a crusade against a non-excommunicated catholic.
Besides, there must be at least ten turns between two crusades.

Nothing like killing/capturing the Pope, not only does the rest of Europe hate you, but you get a certain satisfaction as you swipe his silly Pope-hat off with a double handed poleaxe. Ahh.

In my SS campaign, I got excommunicated for repeatedly smashing Portugal on the same bridge in Andalusia (as Aragon). Then, a crusade gets called, and I see the Spanish king wandering down through my lands alone, no units. I think, oh, here's a chance, so I attack with my half-stack of mailed knights and my top general, Alvar Galan. Immediately, the rest of Catholic Europe is on terrible relations with me, the Pope on abysmal, and I have French armies hammering me from the Pyrenees. On the upside, it was their last family member and their 3 provinces immediately went rebel and easy to capture.

You must be a victim of the occassional randomness of the game. But hey, now you have the chance to conquer the Catholics. Milanese Crossbows to the foe!
