Thats quite nice but it could do with a little shaving off in the North and the South. Probably the East as well. It only needs to go just past the Caspian sea.
some more and we can put in the Mongols in the early campaign!

I suspect that the problem KK faces is what to do with the Northern Steppes. Idealy IMO he would take the map to at least the Aral Sea and Urgench, maybe as far as Samakand, but what to do with that vast empty North:hmmm:. By taking out the Americas and the Atlantic, you have quiet a bit of room to increase with, but with the emptiness of Russia in this period he chose to make regions bigger. That might have been a better choice if the Ai would react to your armies, but as it is its a tough call.
To err is human, but to really foul things up you need a computer.

The 1 settlement idea is nice. Is their a way to GREATLY increase walking distance per turn in that region though? I would absolutly hate to have to walk that.
I know but its the nearest we've got at the moment!
About that large area to the north east of the map: I think that it could justifyably be given to the Cumans in the early period and certainly to the Mongols in the middle or late. Actually though, there was a mod for RTR that made it one large unconquerable province which you could still pass through and hire mercenaries in.

I remember Sahara in Europa Barbarorum (RTW mod in case someone didn't hear about it). It was one settlement in the corner of the map, unreachable for factions, always rebel. Well, we could do the same to the steppes if we're desperate.
The other idea is to place thousands of little villages around it making it the size of Europe but VERY underdeveloped. Maybe even give them to Mongols or something.
I'd go for the first option.
Or you could just make it uncapturable, but crossable....if your armies can last across a land that vast.
Edit; beat me!^
hm I am not really exited about this expansion, the north east is already a boring part of land thats keeping me from playing the russian factions, I am not waiting for more of this dull enviroment that allows no strategic points at all with mountains, a lot of water or anything like that.
