    Default Bloody Orthodox Christians

I'm playing as the Templar Knights and just about every priest I have gets the orthodox triat, why is this and how do I aviod getting it?
Also does it matter if I leave the priest in the city instead of the land I own, I still get the conversion bonus yes? Whats the point of having them out of the city because to get rid of the hertics?

Interesting...every priest I have in my current Templars campaign turns out Unorthodox, which I assumed was due to the high non-Christian population. Dunno why all yours are the opposite.

The Orthodox trait has nothing to do with Orthodox Christianity. It means that they adhere closely to church doctrine, whatever that may be. You can have Orthodox Priests with the "Unorthodox" trait because they don't follow the "line" of the Eastern Church, and Catholic Priests with the "Orthodox" trait because they do follow the line of the Catholic Church. You can even have Imams with those traits, because they are or aren't willing to deviate from accepted Islamic doctrine.

    Cheers.

Okay so this is stuff Ive been getting.
Open-minded +2 unorthodoxy: Is uncertian whether faith itself is flawed, or its been lacking the people he has met.

    This doesnt sound good.

I think Unorthodoxy means they're more open to heretical ideas? I'm not really sure.

"Orthodox" is a good trait, because it means that they adhere more rigidly to the intricacies of their particular faith's doctrine, which in turn reduces the likelihood of them turning heretic. "Unorthodox" means that they are more likely to deviate, and thus more likely to become heretics.

I don't think that the text descriptions for the Unorthodox line of traits is correct--it sounds disconnected from the actual meaning and effects of the trait. Hopefully I've explained them adequately.

Since I'm home for the holidays, I can't browse the data files, but I would hazard a guess that being in regions with low levels of one's own religion (and in particular high levels of heresy) make a priest more susceptible to a trait like "Unorthodox".

    Cheers.

It means they love bunny wabbits and like to pet kittens.

    Sorry, I couldn't resist.

It means that the priest is more likely to cause a riot and that he is also more likely to kill a heretic I think.

I don't know exactly what it means for Orthodox Christian priests, but for Catholics, a Violent pope is more likely to agree to a crusade (supposedly). I imagine a Violent imam is more likely to agree to call a jihad.

    Cheers.
