You need to look in the option menu at the graphic options, if you select the advanced options there will be a unit scale tab. Huge scale has 160 men in a standard unit, large has 80 men in a standard unit.

If you're gonna hire Machete to kill the bad guy, you better make damn sure the bad guy isn't YOU!

oh, lol. I thought that was a graphic setting to show how good they looked.
I noticed that there are certain factions that can never get the title 'The Great', so whats the equivalent titles for these factions, if any?
Some barbarian factions have things like "the Magnificent" or the "the Brave" that I suppose are about equal. I'm not sure, but I remember there being a thread for this topic some time ago when I was still a forum newbie. Might pay to do a search...
I am a newbie and would like to know how I can determine which version of RTW I have. I read somewhere that a thing called "vanilla" helps...
What is that?
Amy help would be greatly appreciated.
Nick
1. Open your game.I am a newbie and would like to know how I can determine which version of RTW I have.
2. Click on "Options."
3. Now look at the bottom or top of your screen. It'll say which version you have (i.e. 1.3, 1.5, etc)
"Vanilla" is "Rome: Total War" (without any modifications).I read somewhere that a thing called "vanilla" helps...
What is that?

Thanks Prince of Macedon.
What a funny term for a version--vanilla.
This was a first in the class of weirdos in linguistics and should go into the Guinness Book of Misnomer Records.
Thanks again.
I'm not sure if this is true, but I think the term came from how plain vanilla is. i.e. vanilla is a plain type of icecream flavour, a plain type of colour. And so when refering to a game (it's not just RTW you know) as vanilla, you're basically saying that it's the plain, normal version of the game, and all the special stuff that it doesn't have is in the mods
i bought rome total war gold edition (rtw+bi)
it only has one cd key in it, and it only works on bi!!!
however noone plays bi online, so why doesnt it work on rtw??? or is there a way i can change it!!!???
HELP!!!
One CD key should work with all of them: RTW, BI and Alex. Are you sure you have typed it in completely correctly in RTW?
Your CD-Key will work with both. I'm moving this to a more appropriate place.

can somebody explain why that my unit that should have 241 stays at 161 . Ichanged the io file . And the description of the unit says 241. When they move to the army bar the size is 161.
Well what faction and what unit is it? Cos I think some units have a limited size, and even when you change the files to make a bigger number of men, they will only stay at the maximum possible.
The julii faction and the units are the early cohorts ,roman archers and all units you get after the marius thing . Greetz
Yes I'm quite sure 161 men is the limit for them. I don't think you can get any more.
I've seen in the very hard campaign that enemies can have more than 20 units in one army. Why is that?
They cant, its just two rows of 9 and 2 extra units. Yeah, its confusing.
Hey i was wondering if it was possible to create your own faction on rtw?
Yes you could, but to add all the types of units, cities, banner colours and symbols, buildings etc.... that would take an awfull lot of time going through each type of file and adding what you want into it. But it is definitely possible, that's how new factions in mods are made.
