HELP please!

Hi all,

I 've downloaded the mod and have installed it succesfully, but each time when i would like to start a campaign, the game crashes and go back to the menu. This is by all the factions, each time i tried it. nothing works, even the custom games. :hmmm:

I need help

Go straight for the campaign you intend to play and don't jump between factions too much.

It's a known bug (at least since I tested 5.0 for the first time) and nobody has an idea how to fix it.

I guess you will have to get used to that, just like we all did.

For me SS is worth suffering a CTD time to time.

Lets just be clear, you do have MTW 1.2 and kingdoms installed, downloaded 5.0 and the 5.1 patch, installed them to the default folder \mods\Stainless_Steel, and when you click on the desktop icon the game crashes ..... when?

I was meaning when I want to play the campaign, all the campaigns doesn't work. all of them.

As Quark said, make sure you have everything correctly installed. SS 5.1 only works on Kingdoms. You need 4.1 if you don't have Kingdoms.

If you do have Kingdoms installed, did you make any changes to any files. The symptom you describe is usually a sign of an error in one of the campaign files. If you made a small error, then you wont be able to start a campaign. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, the best solution I can suggest, although quite painful is reinstall everything.

Basically, uninstall M2TW, delete your M2TW folder (copy any saved games you want first!). Install M2TW, Install Kingdoms, Install SS 5.0, Install 5.1 patch and hotfix. Try now.

One thing to do before reinstalling is to post your system.log.txt which should be in your root med 2 folder. Just try and start a new campaign with SS, when it fails, close M2TW and post up the system.log.txt

Also know that when you switch from Custom Battles to the Campaigns it will CTD. Lol I've done it a dozen times and I'm sure I'll do it a dozen more.

Hey all, thx for you replies, but i 've a update,

strange enough, the custom games does work, but the campaigns not.

and why should i need te unistall?

I am deducing that the suggestion to uninstall is based on the fact that SS 5.0+5.1 is very stable and works, hence the thought that something went wrong with the download or install process, so start again.

However it would be helpful if you would please post some software details ie

• Windows XP/Vista
• MTW II 1.2
• Other mods eg retrofit
• Kingdoms installed
• path for SS 5.0
• anything you have edited
• system log file as a attachment

Otherwise we are a bit in the dark and unable to help.

try updating you VGA card drivers?

did you install a clean version of the game mtw2 and kingdoms maybe there s the problem if you didn t do that? (ore is this not necessary?)

ohhh yea almost forgot about those....if your using a no cdkey hack it will not work.
