    Default Romulus Total War

    I've in the intial stages of developing a 700BCE Roman mod. Time period will be long, I'm hoping to cover from Romulus to the early Republic. Many political / military developments over that period. Factions will probably start at - Etruscan, Latin, Sabine, Volsci and possibly Rutuli .. and end up all Roman! more a history lesson than a random game?

    So far;

    (1) I'm working on the map, 60% complete (Thanks GrnEyeDvl for course)
    (2) created some basic units, nothing fancy, just for testing. I really need a artist to create some Etruscan, Latin, Sabine, Volsci, Rutulli warriors etc I'm not going to worry too much about being historically accurate for unit changes over the 200 year period.
    (3) Started changing menu options etc
    (4) AI not started yet.

    I hope to minimse scripting and rely on new features available in M2TW .. it really annoys me having to run the scripts everyturn .. i'd prefer to leave them out ... but I'll see how I go.

    I'm not at the stage yet to show development pictures, still just starting, but hopefully in the new year?

    So If you're a Artist and would like to make some meshes, please leave a message.

    ----------- additional ----------
    Here's a region map and Romulus Horseman (based on Saxon Scout)

    --------- Turning Points ----------

    Things I want to cover in the mod are;

    (1) The Kingship of Romulus (Latins, Tribal, Warrior Horsemen, Herders, Gods Hercules) - death of Remus, Open door policy to attract more people, wars with local communities and their absorption.
    (2) Kingship of Numa Pompilius (Latins / Sabine, tribal, Warrior Horsemen, Herders, Gods Hercules / Nature-watchers) - Alliance with Sabines, New religious ideas - flamines
    (3) Kingship of Tullus Hostilius ( "as above" ) - More military wars with local communities, more absorptions.
    (4) Kingship of Ancus Martius ( "as above" ) - Capture of Ostia, Building of bridge over the Tibur to replace ford, Incursion of west bank of the River Tibur and capture of the religious centre on the Janiculum hill (possible reason of Etruscan invasion)
    (5) Etruscan Invasion - New military technology, the Hoplite phalanx superior over warrior horsemen, Rome captured.
    (6) Kingship of Lucius Tarquinius Priscus (Etruscan, Civilized, Phalanx, farmers, Gods Greek - Diana, etc) - Drains Marshes (less sickness), builds "Cloaca Maximus" (great sewer) (even less sickness), Builds Circus Maximus (Chariot racing), Adds culture.
    (7) Kingship of Servius Tullius ("As above" ) - Re-organizes military and society, Builds small wall around Rome(?)
    (8) Kingship of Tarquinius Superbus ("as above" ) - Democratic moves in Greece cause worldwide "Revolt against Rulers", in Rome Superbus is expelled replaced by mob rule, Lars Porsena organises Etruscan army and invades, Rome retaken, Lars retires after sons death leaving 2 administrators controlling Rome - the first consuls. (well something along those lines .. many theories, many possible options here)
    (9) Early Republic ( Etruscan Aristocracy / Latin populous, Civilized, Phalanx, farmers, Gods many ) - Constant struggle between Patricians and Plebs, More military invasions more towns taken.

    Probably will end here but might extend further into the early Republic.

    -------------------------------------------------

    Regions (so far)

    Romani, Lavinium, Alba Longa, Tusculum, Aricia, Gabbi, Tibur = Latin
    Veii, Janiculum, Fidenae, Caere, Falerii, Praeneste = Etruscan
    Crustumerium, Nomentum, Cures, Eretum, Lucus_Feroniae = Sabine
    Ardea = Rutulian
    Cora = Volsci
    Ostia = Rebel

    I can help you with the units! In 700 BC the Romans had a very- shall we say barbaric form of warfare. They did not have discipline or even phalanx, and fought much like Myceneans and Gauls. Later on, however, the phalanx and discipline came. PM me if u r interested in more info.

    This mod focuses over Latium and the very begining of Rome, while Penisula Italica focuses over the rise of Rome in the Italian penisula.
