I watched Evan Almight a while back. Near the beginning of the film God was talking with Evan, trying to convince him to build hls ark...

God: Let me ask you something. If someone prays for patience, you think God gives them patience? Or does he give them the opportunity to be patient? If he prayed for courage, does God give him courage, or does he give him opportunities to be courageous? If someone prayed for the family to be closer, do you think God zaps them with warm fuzzy feelings, or does he give them opportunities to love each other?

The only problem with this outlook is that it relegates God to obscurity. If God does not change the actions or free will of people -ie- saving from the fire, then he COULD not have made Bell invent the tele.

This outlook basically says that God wont help you, you have to do things yourself.

Not to mention, when people pray for things like patience or courage, it is usually because they ALREADY have too many situations which require these emotions in their lives.

Yes, but god is supposed to do those things for you. If god isn't gonna save the fire, why credit him for inventing the telephone?

It's like this, my cousin had an inner ear problem, bad enough that she couldn't drive and she was tired and disoriented a lot. It took 2 years, but they finally found the nerve that caused the problem. Now, I have an aunt who is a fundie, and she writes letters to me cousin telling her how god is finally working and healing her. My cousin, being the rational being, questions the fact that god didn't prevent her from being sick at all, or actually in her case "intelligently design" her genetics to prevent it from happening.

Thats a very weak argument there my friend. Im not a very religious person ... but what many could counter-argue is that god isn't human at all & thus doesn't need a life !!! He is a sort of ruler from whom we demand constant attention. Anyways ... thats how it is

This actually disproves the fact that god exist`s. Since an existing god with god powers can do anything, why should he only give you a chance, when he can lend you a hand, i mean, why would he help you indirectly and not directly? Is he afraid to get in contact with humans? Is he ugly, and fears that we might laugh at him? Or perhaps he doesn`t exist, and that "chance" comes from human nature and not from god.

^ Okay, I actually forgot that I had written that, but for the most part, this is true. Think about it, men and women were made for each other, made to be married to each other. Why else would males have a penis, or females have a vagina? I know that those are somewhat vulgar words, but that is the only way I could describe those body parts.

Ultimately, that is my reason homosexuality is wrong. Let me bring up another point though, Medicus. I do not have a hatred towards these people. In fact, I am sure many of them are good people, their sexual practises were never meant to be, though, it is unnatural and unrighteous. To put it more politely, I regard homosexuality as a mental condition.
