Whats the factor for an army to be crushed (i.e. the character falls down dead and does not run away on the campaign map).
Because im not sure if its worth it to try and capture every soldier and not let them take them back.
thanks

If you've aptured or killed 92% or mreo of their army then on the campaign map the guy will fall down dead. At least, that's what I've observed.
...or if you are on an island where the enemy has no settlement. If you defeat them there they will have nowhere to run, so they dissappear.

Is that 92% casualties in each unit or average. Because I typically kill/capture over 90% in battle and the enemy still retreats. Maybe they don't run away if the remaining units have too few troops in them for them to be able to stay intact (like ships don't sink until only a few men are left).
if the attacker is out of movement points they also seem to fight to death sometimes... at least I had that yesterday a couple of times, maybe it was a bug or a SS feature though...

Or if you defeat an army in a province that is surrounded by other provinces hostile to the enemy. In other words, if there are friendly or allied provinces adjacent to the battle province for an army to retreat to, it will be destroyed.
