    hi everybody, does anybody know a cheat which enables us to play as the rebels or the papal states? and also what is everybodies opinion on those 4 factions?

    I think if you ask for everybodies opinion this is going to be a long thread

    to answer your question concerning rebels, etc.

    you have to:
    + edit your descr_strat.txt and add them to the playable factions. (though this is not absolutely needed I think)

    but you also have to

    + enable hotseat in your medieval2.preference.cfg (set it to read only afterwards)

    AND start a new campaign

    then during the game you can take control of the factions you want (as long as they are on the map, so you have to wait for the specific events to happen in case of Timurids and Mongols) with the "control <faction>" command in the console

    then you can basically play them, however with the papal states you cannot control the pope himself (his actions, etc...) or control the election of cardinals, etc.etc.

    and with the rebels you have to take control over them every turn AND have to give control back to the AI every time BEFORE you hit end turn, as the game crashes otherwise. (so you have to play at least another faction, otherwise the game runs on alone)

    the rebels are called "slaves" which is a leftover from Rome (so control slave)
