help question
hi everyone I have a few questions I was hoping someone could help with / point me in the right direction......
1.how do I know if my faction has the sharpen stake special ability? Is this a specific unit ability or is it an ability for the entire faction? and how do i actually use it?
2. I want to be able to swap/trade retinue's but I cannot find the export_descr_ancilliaries folder anywhere. I did a search and it came up with nothing, which is this folder?
3. Everytime I turn around my generals command ability is differant. I fight battle after battle and it doesnt seem to get much better, I think the highest I got to was a 4 star, I then went back in to one of my castles to refit my troops and when I came out he was a two star and the next turn he was a 3 star. I guess I can understand some change or decrease due to age or inactivity but this is happening way to often, any explination?
...and now I cant think of anymore for now, any info would be much appreciated.
Thanks
The Hound

Re: help question
Hi The Hound,
I'm afraid the only one I can help you with is Number One.
The Sharpened Stakes is only available to English Longbows.
To use them you need to be in deployment mode at the start of a battle.
Place the Longbow Men where you want them and then click on the special abilities button and it will deploy a row of stakes in front of them. If you move the Longbows again during the deployment phase the stakes will be removed but you can resite them in the new position by clicking on special abilities again.
There is a cheat around where multiple rows can be deployed, but you would need to search the forum for more info.
Just a word to the wise about stakes. Once you start your battle DO NOT send your cav units through them. Instant death. Lost a faction leader once this way.

Re: help question
2. You need to unpack export_descr_ancillaries.txt first with the unpacker tool. Read the readme file that comes with it to learn how to extract a single file only.
3. After a while a general needs to fight more battles in order to get more command. Leaving characters in settlement can make them drunk, lazy, corrupt etc. Some of these lower command, but all are bad traits whatsoever. You can use a console command to remove unwanted traits, that's what I do if my generals get the superstitious traits (makes no sense to me when they get it).
